India’s first fully indigenously built major warship, the anti submarine warfare (ASW) corvette - INS Kamorta -will be handed over to the Indian Navyby Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), here in Kolkata tomorrow (July 12, 2014).
The super-sophisticated frontline warship will be formally handed by GRSE Chairman and Managing Director, Rear Admiral (Retd) AK Verma to the Indian Navy at a brief ceremony at GRSE’s Fitting-Out-Jetty.

The IN seems to be on a roll. Kamorta, Kolkata...

The IN is increasing its firepower and lethality by leaps and bounds, even as the other two services are stuck in a quagmire about modernization.

Wow. P-15A Kolkata today, P-28 Kamorta tomorrow...this is too much for me!

IA for sure is, I'd say other than on the fighter front (primarily the LCA and Rafale fronts) the IAF is on a pretty good run in terms of modernisation across the board.

Tankers, AEWACS? They should have had more of those by now.

If you are referring to the discolored masts, they haven't been polished yet, but it does happen before ship is handed
over to Navy.

If you're referring to the uneven surface on the sides, it is done to reduce radar & acoustic signature.

I'm not sure it will be this rigid, and why would the IN have two CBGs with a significant disparity in capabilities (IAC-1 > Viky, P-15A > P-15, P-17 > Talwar, P-28 > P-25A, Scorpene > Killo)?
