While ASUS has joined several others in announcing entire series of laptops at CES 2017, the real eye catcher is the new Pro B9940. Like Lenovo and Dell, ASUS is also adding a 14-inch display in the body of a 13-inch laptop, which means only a fraction of the ugly bezels you get on a normal laptop.
The laptop is being positioned as the lightest business laptop in the 14-inch class. That was achieved through a new lightweight magnesium alloy which weighs only 2.31 pounds. It still has the MIL-STD 810G certification for increased durability though.
The display has a Full HD resolution. There is an embedded fingerprint scanner. The processor options include either a Kaby Lake Core i5 or i7, with up to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD storage.
The keyboard keys have a good 1.5mm of travel when pressed. The keyboard is also tilted for more comfort and range. Connectivity options include both USB Type-C and Type-A ports.
Pricing for the B9940 is set at $999 and it launches this May.
ASUS has also announced new Transformer and ZenBook Flip 2-in-1s, new ZenBook laptops as well as three new Zen All-in-Ones. Essentially, all of them have been updated to Intel’s Kaby Lake processors.
The laptops will be made available from the get go, starting from $699, while the rest of the convertible and all-in-one machines will be available come May of this year.
