1. Erdogan is a Muslim Brotherhood fanatic. He hates Sisi because Sisi killed Morsi.

2. No such thing as barrel bombs. All bombs kill.

3. Syria shares intelligence with Iraq.

4. Not only ISIS is bad. Nusra is just as bad.

5. Assad had no choice to be president.

6. It took 4 months to beat ISIS in Kobani. SAA beat ISIS in only a few weeks in similar towns.

7. Damascus and Aleppo have been destroyed many times in history. This is not the worst Syria has seen.

8. Chlorine is a crappy poison gas. SAA did not bother to use it. Nusra did that.

The American government has abandoned Syria long ago including the pathetic leaders of the Muslim world. They can't even deal with ISIS which they to a large degree are to be blamed for. No Iraq invasion no ISIS. Also had the world community acted when it was needed in Syria and done what they were supposed to do (remember the "red lines"?) ISIS would have been a marginalized group in Syria or not even existed. In fact ISIS only ventured into Syria from Iraq 1.5 years INTO the conflict.

There are no ifs and buts. What happened happened. If the US even tried to bomb Assad, Russia would ship S300 and down go US planes. The US has no appetite for another war in the ME.

No it's not. Barrel bomb lacks a hard steel shell. HE-FRAG bombs are far more devastating because when such a bomb explodes, the outer hard steel shell fragments and thousands of such small fragments hit people at hypersonic velocities. Barrel bomb has a small fraction of the lethal radius of a HE-FRAG bomb. In this respect, barrel bombs are precise due to their small lethal radius whereas HE-FRAG bombs which are the standard bombs are non discriminatory because of their large lethal radius.

This is barrel bomb Charlie Ross mentioned. First used in Bosnia war. Not very effectively compared to HE-FRAG bombs. Shockwave has very little radius. Bombs kill mainly by fragments which can fly out hundreds of meters at hypersonic velocities. Also lacks proximity fuse that standard bombs use. Barrel bomb can only detonate upon impacting the ground, at which point it already slams deep into the ground, not effective. Standard bombs have proximity fuse, explode in mid air close to the ground, send fragments out hundreds of meters which kill people upon impacting at hypersonic velocities.
