Elaborate arrangements are being made for exiled Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti’s stay in India taking into account the possibility that he might form a government-in-exile of Independent Balochistan.

“We have asked Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) to provide an assessment on how many Baloch’s living in exile will follow Bugti to India. Accordingly we will decide on the place where he will be asked to stay,” said a senior home ministry official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The home ministry is also looking for place with suitable climatic conditions for Balochs to stay and feel being at home, added the official.

Bugti had held talks with Indian diplomats in Geneva last month to seek political asylum in India.

The ministry of external affairs had forwarded his application to the home ministry to take a final call.

“We have one such past experience when Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, along with his followers, sought political asylum in India in 1959 and formed a government-in-exile in Dharamshala. Officials of the home ministry are looking at the process followed then,” said the official.

The founder-president of the Baloch Republican Party, Bugti is the grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti, a Baloch nationalist leader killed by the Pakistan Army in 2006.

Pakistan has strongly opposed India giving asylum to Bugti, calling him a terrorist who is being propped by R&AW.

it would actually give reason Pak and china to openly support antagonistic leaders of India as well but it would depend on individual countries whether they will carry the same strategy or not. like Pak cant openly support indian rebels but for the pressure tactics, IMO, pak is going to do the same.

Wow this is a BIG Step.

Setting up a govt. in exile will mean that from now on India will Officially consider Baluchistan a Independent country and its people under the illegal occupation of pakistan.

So any and all help can be provide to free the people of this country under illegal occupation.

Jiye Jiye Baluchistan, India stands with you.

Why not ? Are you scared that pakistan will send terrorists into India and try to kill Indians ? oh wait..... that's already happening.

pakistan will wage a proxy war with india ? oh wait ..... done that.

pakistan will refuse to trade with us ? .... oh wait .... no MFN for India.

What exactly are you afraid of ?
Because it will expose the one thing that India has always claimed it has never done, directly supporting a well known terrorist.

With this step, India will no longer have any claim to a moral high ground.

As for the rest of your points, nothing more than emotional outbursts.

.
We do not need any moral high ground since this is not class 10 moral class nor is this a church.

India needs to do anything and everything in its power to bring down its enemies, and if that means freeing the people of an oppressed country of Baluchistan y under illegal occupation, then more power to such action.

In case you did not notice, we abandoned our 'moral high ground' the moment we decided to put the Indus water treaty in the ICU where it is fighting for its life.
A naive and ill informed comment. I'll let others handle it.

Wow. .... what an articulate reply that totally demolishes the actions of the GoI.

This is not me saying it, its the Govt. of India saying it. So unless you are saying that the GoI is naive and should listen to you, all the best in alice in wonderland.
That's why India has practically backed off the IWT threat, right? Because it's so prone to emotional outbursts like you suggest it is.

Your comment is naive at best, it fails to understand India's geopolitical goals, and efforts to increase its international stature.

As it is, the threat to host Bugti is currently just a threat. If India does go through with it, the case will only help Pakistan, not hinder it.

Consider this my last reply.

I dont think any one wants to attend to his delusions. He has been yammering about stealing our water by building run of the river hydroelectric projects. Any sane person can catch the joke within his claim .

@Hephaestus
You mean like Khalistani and kashmiri leader ? ..... oh wait .... you already do that.

You will have to tax your brains and come up with something new.

in case you missed this.

i think you dont know that Kashmir is a disputed region but Balochistan is a settled area of Pakistan and as far as Khalistan is concerned then it is also a settled area of India. so Pak openly supports Kashmiris because of its disputed nature but as for other settled area Pak did not give any Khalistani leader asylum in Pak or anyther rebel of India in Pak.
India has just set the precedent for this support and you actually undermining the response of different countries. you perhaps dont know that when your enemy is strong then he would undermine your efforts like these but when your enemy is at par with you and at lower end with you then this act is undertaken as a threat to their national security and then he respond in a befitting reply. hence when you support DALAI Lama and China ignores that and does not respond you in similar way then you should not take this as China fears from you but it is sign of silent response which says " do whatever you want we dont give shit to you and you are not at par with us to even call you a real enemy or threat". but Pakistan would not do that because its a threat for us so you have set the precedent then be prepared for the response in settled areas as well not only in disputed regions.

Totally off on facts and realpolitik !

Indian diplomacy is having significant traction just because of the moral high ground. We have managed to severely restrict the maneuvering space of Pakistan on international forums just due to that. That is why, no one is bothered about Kashmir at international level.

IWT, there is only a decision not to speak through bilateral mechanisms. There is no decision to withdraw from it. India won't, it is an act akin to act of terror.

I sincerely wish that you all who shoot half cocked will realise that such useless statements bereft of any rationale and logic, do not do any good for India, but surely harms the excellent work being done by GoI and the Diplomatic Corps at present in managing the diplomatic front.

Also, you can liken your above statement to Congress' idiot the other day who doubted surgical strikes due to no documentary evidence, damaging the scenario by making it a joke all around.

.
Nothing wrong in that...
Many Khalistani leaders are living in Pakistan

.
Hey as an Indian, I have no problem when you classify the DAM's in kashmir as 'Run of river' proejcst

That is what GoI has been saying and what GoP has been disputing. I thank you for your support and suggest that you express your views to the govt. of pakistan so that they can withdraw their protest against all these 'illegal' dams.

According to Treaty India can harvest or divert upto 17% of water from every river allotted to Pakistan. I even tried to explain it to you before but apparently you are a bit too much dumb and thick headed to listen to any sorts of reason. Pakistan was protesting diversion of indian share of water hence we were shot down by ICJ. I will leave you to your TWISTED imagination as i neither have time or energy to attend to fools high on adrenaline.

I differ on that pov. Economic interests and Indian diaspora abroad also contributed.

Entire world knows that Pakistan is sponsoring and sending terrorists into India and killing Indian citizens and army personnel from a long time. What you describe excellent work done by previous GoI and diplomats is nothing but to show the world our pants are open and we are bent over and that we can take slaps after slaps just to stay put on high moral ground.

Indians in general are passive and reactive, just like gandhi to offer other chin to be slapped again. Where was GoI when entire valley was being radicalized through loudspeakers on mosques? Where was GoI when the original inhabitant of Kashmir, the pandits, were being chased out of valley ? And in order to cover all these F-ups, we will like to pass all aggressive posturing that we should or will take i.e, commit more F-ups.

Where is OIC, Turkey, and UN on Baluchistan? India raised its voice just now but what happened to Pakistanis all these years violating human rights to severe extent? Nothing !!! Without diplomatic or economic clout.

You already do that.
