Agreed - it's not about how they are raised as much as the views/ideology they themselves choose to adopt.

A Pakistani American girl I know, born and raised in the US by practicing Muslims parents (not Hijab or Burqa types) is a raging liberal who smokes pot, dropped out of medical school to become a teacher and supports a complete de-funding of police with 'communities stepping up to look out for each other' and 'greater social services'.

In some ways, her views about de-funding and disbanding police in the US remind me of Pakistan's woke liberal/leftist elite that want to de-fund, if not completely disband, Pakistan's military and have this Utopian idea of a 'global nation that would just get along in peace if given the chance'.

You would prefer her to be a burkha wearing good Muslim girl , living in a mini Pakistan in the usa ?
Why are you guys even in the west when you dislike everything about it ?
Western ideals of individualism, freedom and human rights are derided so freely on this site by migrants, its only befitting that you guys relocate to your home countries.

Racial profiling & brutish tactics used by US police departments also impact the Muslim American community, if there is a movement to reform US police departments, then Muslim Americans have common cause and reason to support said movement.

We have nothing in common with the blacks. They along with whites have killed millions of untold innocent Brown Muslims across the globe. The police are free to brutalize the blacks as much as they want. They have been commiting brutality against Muslims for 20 years. NOTHING was said before. Why now? She supports freedom of choice within reason. She doesn't support people walking down the street naked or having sex with animals or children, but she does support consensual relationships between adults. Nothing wrong with her views there.

I didn't say anything about what 'I would prefer' about her 'lifestyle'.

I made objective observations about one particular individual I know - the only thing I criticized were her views on de-funding and disbanding police.

I support those views - freedom to wear what you want, against public nudity, freedom for adults to have consensual relationships with other adults.

I support legalization of Marijuana - apply the same controls that exist for alcohol in terms of not driving when under the influence etc.

And I certainly am not a 'liberal anarchist' along the lines of those in the SAATH forum.

You have to keep in mind that people don't fit in neat categories all the time and do not have the same exact views on everything. I consider myself a social liberal but I am hawkish on national security and the military.

Just jumping in here to present a fact : a vastly greater number of Muslim women in India wear the burqa than Muslim women in Pakistan.

They are entitled to their views.

What do you think the protests in the US currently are about? It's about the divergence in views of two different sets of people in the US. Conservatives in the US would love to outlaw homosexuality, pre-marital sex etc. That doesn't mean they or liberals get told to 'leave the country'.

Pakistani Americans or Muslim Americans are not monolithic in their views, but they are entitled to them as much as anyone else. They are also entitled to advocate for changes in the country they live in through constitutional mechanisms allowed to them.

This canard of 'go back to where you came from' is in fact one of the most un-American things said so far, and it's not a surprise that Sanghis love saying this just as much as the rabid, intolerant, right wing Trump supporters in the US.

Let Allah decide on the day of judgement. Homosexual relationships between consenting adults aren't tangibly hurting me or other people so why should I oppose them?
