Arnab Goswami Resigns As Editor-in Chief Of Times Now

Senior journalist Arnab Goswami has resigned as the Editor-in Chief of Times Now. Goswami was not seen on his prime time show The Newshour in the past couple of days.

Sources said that he announced his resignation at an editorial meeting. Goswami resigned from the post as he wanted to start something on his own, said sources. The channel, however, is showing teasers of Newshours with the slug ‘Arnab is Back’.
According to Business Standard, Goswami might start a news channel with politician and entrepreneur Rajeev Chandrasekhar and American media baron Rupert Murdoch. It was also said that Goswami might join Fox News. However, Indianexpress.com could not verify the reports.

Goswami started his career at The Telegraph in Kolkata. Within a year, in 1995, he joined NDTV where he was one of the more prominent faces along with Vikram Chandra and Rajdeep Sardesai. He later joined Times Now as its Editor-in-Chief in 2006. He was known for bringing his own unique style of TV journalism into India. Often criticised for being judgmental on his news show, Arnab has a dedicated viewer base of people who love his direct interrogative style of debates, and also those who hate him.

Powered by Goswami’s high-volume NewsHour on primetime, Times Now has been able to sideline a lot of the older players in the English new space. This success had led to Arnab Goswami being promoted as President, News, of Times Now and ET Now.

Arnab is planning his own news venture, reports suggested. TheQuint.com reported that during his hour-long farewell speech he kept repeating that the “game has just begun”. Goswami made the announcement at the Times Now newsroom in Mumbai, with journalists from other centres joining in via video conference.

even if true, the 'direction' of the show wont change....it's not a professional channel, they don't debate. It's a monologue where one narrative is imposed. It is always nice to see nationalist-leaning Pakistani interlocuters like Lt. Col (retd.) Shafqat Saeed, Ahmad Raza Kasuri, Zafar Hilali (former Amb. of Pak to US), Mosharraf Zaidi & the others when they thrash the 'usual indian panelists' on their own national tv "program"

I feel sorry for whatever few honest indian journalists that india does have.....their media is in a very decrepit state and in turn indians are fed down their throats one garbage after the other - usually the bakhts who would touch the feet of RSS top brass if they could

I wonder if in your wanderings you ever came across the phrase, "Diamond cuts diamond." I loathe Nobby, and feel that he is the right antidote for a certain class of blustering bully. Originally these were to be found only on one side of the Radcliffe Line, but, as his existence proves to all observers, since 2014, a presence is visible on the other side as well. The rest of the human race will be well-advised to wait this one out.

"Diamond cuts diamond" must admit I never came across this one, just like the "Koans". In regards to "Nobby" depending on what side of the fence one is, one may appreciate him or loathe him but one cannot argue that his shows are somewhat entertaining and I must admit I have seen a fair few of them my self, the one person that does seem to get under his skin is Kavita Krishnan.Kudos sir

There are Speculations that he will launch his own channel with a much more overtly pro-BJP tilt.

The rift between Goswami and the Jain brothers who own the Times group has been increasing over his unabashed hyper-patriotism and not brooking any criticism whatsoever of the government on his show or channel. The guy really is a character of a kind.

Will wait for that than. But don't you think he will lose his viewership very quickly because slowly people will realize that he is biased.
