Army to induct 'offensive' corps along China border

There is no problem, India is doing on their own territory however the question is they should not cry / whine about other countries doing it.
Not long ago when China developed oxygen apparatus to help breathing at high altitudes, Indian media reported it as an act of provocation !

Whereas if they deploy offensive corps which in reality IS provocation, it is normal.

I have no problem what India is doing but please quit double standards.

I thought the image that was being fed to the international community from the Indian side was that India and China are working towards a better future, where Indian and Chinese people will benefit from each other by opening up their borders for workers and students.

I don't think anyone's going to buy that crap if you're going to raise a new corp along the Chinese border called the "Offensive Corp".

china is far ahead in military buildup and they are building barraks and infrastucture along Indian borders. Still chinese claims that they want peace and friendship with India.

We are just building deterrence so that they can not surprise us or back stab us like in the past.

Strong nations can have peace between each other only when both have militaries which can be evenly matched under any scenario

You cannot win a war against China. This is not even a possibility with Pakistan. Nowadays no war is winnable specially when the adversary has more than enough capability to deny victory to you.

Strike corps in the context of Mountain warfare is a non-starter. If anything, you can throw more infantry, mobility and mountain artillery at it but its nothing different than what is being done right now.

If it is so then why china is building its military infrastructure and assets??

Why even Pakistan is modernizing itself??? As you claim that we can not win Pakistan then what's the need for Pakistan to modernize or build more capabilities????

In the current context the term victory needs to be redefined.Taking over the adversaries territory is not a viable option especially under a nuclear overhang.it should be in terms of damage inflicted on infrastructure,social fabric.civic facilities,and military strength

New division of Army on India-China border

New Delhi: The Indian Army has activated a new division to counter possible Chinese offensive on the Sino-Indian border.

The 71 mountain division in Assam will be under the command of the Tezpur-based 4 Corps.

Earlier, the government had approved two divisions in the north-east for conventional operations to bolster preparedness against China.

The army is working towards raising troops for these but, as of now, there will be internal movement from within the army to start the 71 division, army sources said. Nine new battalions are needed under the new division.

The divisions will mostly have infantry elements, but some armoured assets will also form a part of them at a later stage.

While the 71 division is still organising its infrastructure and cadres, the 56 division with two brigades is in the process of setting up its Orbat (order of battle). Orbat is the command structure, strength, and disposition of personnel, equipment, and units of an armed force during field operations.

A source said: “Re-Orbatting will take place depending on the roles of the brigade.”

Building infrastructure is not the same as deploying soldiers, as infrastructure can be and is mostly used by civilians(Lhasa railway, etc.). I don't really care either way though, India isn't gonna provoke a war with China any time soon. If it were to happen, there would be signs well ahead of the time, and I don't think Chinese leadership would ignore obvious signs like Nehru did. The guy was so oblivious that he thought China was still India's friend and the '62 war was "backstabbing", lol.

i dont care a damn what china think about it,as a provocation or not,in 1962 when India fielded its troops in the forward defensive position they attacked instantly even without any delay,no whats stopping them this time

Both india and china are worlds top rising economies ...... personally i think that they won't kill this chance of growing by engaging each other in war.....

.as wars have disastrous effects on a nation's growth and economy .......
