You don't know much about cannons or the 18th century, do you?

These are improved versions of the guns that won us the Kargil war, and sent your infiltrators packing.

@Oscar sir.....this guy is trolling

A noob question though, the electronics, namely the fire control system and the muzzle velocity radar, what new dose they bring to table ??

I think muzzle velocity radar would keep watch over any downgrade in performance and hence ultimately affecting the range of the gun.

I guess Fire control system would automatically align the gun's barrel itself on proper elevation and azimuthal angle once target's co ordinates are fed in.

Accuracy is the name of the game with these additions and this can account for the slower rate of fire- these upgraded pieces will be able to deliver more ordinance "on-target" than the standard guns so overall an upgrade in performance. Additionally the range of this gun has been extended to some 40km which is nothing to laugh at.

Any one have any idea how quickly the initial 144 gun order the IA had placed for this gun will be delivered?

If this wikipedia is right. Then range of Dhanush Gun is considerably increased .
Bofors range 27 km

DRDO 155 mm artillery gun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Drdo gun range proposing 55 km range. At least 50 may achieved.Otherwise Army will reject it.
It's 50-55km with special ammo, 35-40km with standard ammo. Overall a significant boost to the IA's arty arm.

Which is more than the distance between Amritsar and Lahore :)

Exactly.. Is there a genuine reason why our guys did that??

Because they can. And nobody can shuuuu them.

Exactly what can we do these idiot just don't quit
As usual the devil lies in the detail and as these fricking idiots in the Indian media have NO idea what they are typing the truth often gets lost. Yes the Bofors can fire a 3-round burst in 14 seconds but they then require about 1 minuet to cool off. As such the 8 rounds a minuet for the Dhanush is actually a step foreword.

What kind of special ammo?

well special ammo means like excalibur laser guided shells

this is great news now they should make them in huge quantities and take help of private sector if nacessarry and try using it on Arjun chassis instead of that puny 130 MM gun

I hope the WLR is directly coupled with the gun else there will be many intermediaries
