The way this tussle is between Air Force and Army, it does not seem both military branches are at good terms and that is not a good omen as Air Force and Army have to fight wars together. In theory, Air Force should not be flying attack helicopters. They should be given to Army.

They have always been at good terms when it comes to military operations but IAF has always maintained a stance that it should control the aviation wing of IA and IN as well. But, that scenario is hopefully changing with both IA and IAF having their own aviation wings and assets are also being procured for the same which the IAF wouldn't have control over.
