Army convoy attacked by TTP terrorists

This is one rare lucky case. Other wise we loose soldiers in every incident. In fact we have even lost soldiers in IBO when we have the initiative

Close quarters is a very messy job.
US usually avoids sending in soldiers and blows the place up from distance.

That leads to unacceptable collateral

Thats how they lost in Afghanistan

US in many many cases have done CQB and come out without any soldier even injured. We need to find where we are going wrong. Operations of other forces around the world needs to be studying. There is something seriously wrong with training and tactics. The cover of leading the from the front is to hide incompetency. Yes we have great officers who like to lead from the front but our losses are way way higher.

And we are winning ? We are in war for past two decades and ours is no where close to an end.

After sucking American balls for so long, are you telling me they haven't at least been benefiting from how the Americans operate?

I'm sure the air force definitely became a formidable force mainly due to American input.

Not true, US marines went door to door in large city like faluja, Iraq and clear that city of insurgents. That’s a whole city full of insurgents. They capture more enemy (around 1500) than they killed (1200 to 1500).

CQB and urban warfare is a skill.

How are TTP getting info of convoy movement is an important factor to look upon. Ambushing (planning, preparing, movement, etc) takes time. Enemy has time on its hands to form an ambush.

Maybe use dummy convoy movement to force enemy to re-think ambushes. Trucks carrying dummys and remote mounted MGs for counter fire. This should reduce the ambushes or increase enemy forces to take down convoys. More movement doesn't go undetected, instead of 6 insurgents attacking a convoy, they will send 10 or 12. Keep sending in juicy targets of unarmored trucks concealed with ready to fire MGs.

Destroying Mullahs and madrassahs isn't the perfect idea - replacing Mullah, replacing teaching method, replacing syllabus, but this will take years.
lax SOPs, unplanned population and residences too close to army installations. everyone with smart phones, considerable portion of population still sympathetic to terrorist causes
as for dummy runs, we dont have enough logistics (and fuel) to make genuine transportation let alone do the mock convoy's to capture moles, sympathizers and terrorists.

solution is very low tech and effective. on ground intelligence gathering and spread of misinformation within the population.
also weed out people within the forces that are sympathetic to TTP and have been responsible in deadly attacks on our "heavily" guarded installations.

I am sad a civilian died, but looks like army did better job with this ambush, we want more where our soldiers don't die but terrorists die in numbers.

Death of soldiers is equally sad. RIP.

Given the intensity of daily 5 suicide bombings and daily ambushes to once in a blue moon attacks we are winning . Just need more saber than some of us have.

US never goes in like our soldiers do . They have air assets in air to blast whole area on first hostile contact.

But I agree more training won't hurt

Did Pakistan have a choice to do the same after 9/11? When did loyal colonial sepoys earn the right to choose???

9/11 was the result of Pakistan continuing their support of the Taliban who used the space to help increase the influence of Al Qaeda mainly in KPK and FATA. They shouldn't have got involved in the Taliban experiment and not have got involved during the Afghan Soviet war. Should not have taken in refugees. Border should have been sealed.

Its for you to decide what your boundaries are so other countries know what to respect.

When 9/11 happened it was too far gone and the least Pakistan should have done was help to wipe out Taliban and AQ alongside their western partners to preserve their reputation.

The public chose Taliban over everyone else and TTP used that space to cause chaos.

Taliban , AQ and Afghan end goal was always to isolate Pakistan and that begins with creating mistrust between you and the west. They are exactly like Indians, they operate from the same manual.

A foolish nation like Pakistan will keep suffering until its people get some sense.

All PTI shills shitting on the military high command 24/7 while chilling abroad.

Bhai you can't kill an ideology. Afterall locals harbour these goons and provide them with safe haven and transportation in and out of Pakistan. The province has been under PTI rule since a long time and idk what the government has done to deradicalise people. No amount of military operations or protection will solve this issue.

A Soviet occupied Afghanistan would have been worse for us.

And even if we eliminated the Afghan Taliban, the new government in Kabul would still have a hostile policy towards Pakistan.

It's will be about 5 years of this

Remember it's ONLY been one year since the fall of Afghanistan, did some of expect no fall out?

It will take 5 years for us to gradually and surely grind them down,, the situation in Afghanistan will take its own effect on them

Our strategy:
Let's pretend that all is well and sleep on this incident, as usual.

It wouldn't have mattered if the border had been sealed.

Did ISIS Syria effect Turkey?

They could have any policy they wanted, the border would have been sealed, no Afghan refugees in the country and AQ brainwashing would not have spread in KPK and FATA.

This entire TTP debacle happened because TTP and AQ were allowed to penetrate KPK and FATA and create sympathizers.

Why is there a Taliban school in Peshawar?

It's like Pakistan is proud of getting f**ked in the a*s for 20 years.
