Arjun Mk II Prototype revealed

They've T-90ised the Arjun apparently to rectify the faults.
How so? Other than the sloped ERA tiles the Arjun has very little similarities to the T-90.

That's a very superficial stamtent sir.

^^ Exactly

BTW they haven't added APS yet nor have added armor on right side; which means it is definitely not the production variant

Perhaps initially but not so. After all, how much has changed in the Arjun to change it into a workable concept. The same happened with the T-72 which ended up as your T-72BU or T-90.

There isn't going to be any ERA armor add-on on the right side (front). The IR/Laser jammer ensures that.

So what you're saying is not that the Arjun has taken specific design cues from the T-90 but rather the process of trail and error and continuous improvements that were applied to the T-72 have taken place on the Arjun meaning you are left with a final product that is greatly improved on the basic platform but based on it?

Yes, Basically.. like the T-72. the original Arjun was pretty much a failure and useless in combat. However, just as the T-90 was made to rectify the faults of the T-72.. so has the Arjun Mk2 or 3 or so on been done to fix the original mistake.

I dont think it will have an APS either.

It will definitely end up with Trophy or Iron Fist.

Trophy is more likely I think...besides, IMI got blacklisted so Iron Fist cannot be sold. Has to be Trophy
end of the day.

No indigineous tanks will be successful as long as army do not orders them in large numbers

We'll see if it will eventually get one, but in the official CGIs, there isnt any APS.

I am not sure if India would go by that, as the development of indigenous Active Protection System is in advance stages, besides Russia might aswell offer its Arena-3 APS.

Arjun MK1 was work in progress for a while and when it finally finish trials, world had moved on to next generation.Mk2 was built on Arjun's SUCCESS and to catch up/ exceed others by incorporating many new techs.

PAF has ordered JF17 mk2, does that make JF17 MK1 a failure?

Every nation makes improvements on their products and go from mk1 to mk2, blk1 to blk2 and so on.You out of all people should know better.

Well, the PAF did not write up the JF-17 with a list of problems to fix that required a Block-II. The block-II is NOT a mark-II.. its just the second batch. SO NO, its NOT similar to the Arjun program so please do not direct your sentimental ire there.

This is the Arjun Mk1. some 5 years ago
All not well with Arjun tanks, admits Govt
MoD calls for probe into Arjun tank failure - Indian Express

It was based on these reviews that the Mk.2 had to be done as a major fault correction and improvement program.
