No. He is correct. We need to have long range ballistic missiles that can strike 11-15000 kms away. The idea of having SLBMs have such a range is to keep a check on all. There are no permanent enemies or friends. They keep changing.

Which is why a global nuclear strike capability is the best deterrent our country can have.

China and Russia have it. USA had it first. Are they killing each other? But that keeps all of them from invading each other.

Which leaves us vulnerable.

If we have a MT range ballistic missile that can reach all the countries from India, then we have a deterrent.

We need ICBM with 8,000 to 8,600 KM range. Though I know in order to cover prime cities of US we need ICBM with 12,000 KM range, but I doubt we will ever have political will to go that far.
