Are Jewish people increasing in Bangladesh?

Being Bangladeshi Muslim myself I have to say the truth. Pakistan is more secular than Bangladesh. In my office, manager calls his boss Malaun or its short form Malu because he is Hindu. Hey, where is Mr. Malu? This is the way he calls his sir.

Bangladeshis call Hindus Malaun. Its just a tag Bangladeshis always use for Hindus. Its an offensive term which means cursed by God. Pakistanis don't use the term.

Huge number of Bangladeshis attend radical waz sermon where the Mullahs preach radicalism and hatred for all other religions and give extremist ideas to Bangladeshi youth. Also give speeches against Bengal New Year celebration as its considered Hindu festivals. I don't think Pakistanis have such radical type waz although they do have some sermons but not as radical as Bangladeshi Waz. These waz Mahfils are extremely popular in rural villages.

Often Bangladeshi Jamaat e Islami and BNP and even Awami cadres vandalize Hindu idols in villages during Puja festivals of Hindus. I rarely hear the same about Pakistan.

Tight security is arranged all over Bangladesh during minority festivals. If Bangladesh was really secular than why would be such security arrangement?

Listen I am a Buddhist from Bangladesh. I am too a minority and let me tell you that many things has been exaggerated. Yes there are extremist people who calls Hindus as malauns, attends hate filled waz, vandalizes temples, but it's not widespread and not something extremely common. I mean these things exists but Mr Riyad is potraying as if Bangladesh is a Taliban state which is not true.

Bangladesh is one of the few countries where festivals of each and very religions are declared as public holidays. Buddha purnima and Christmas are public holidays when Buddhists and Christians don't even make 1% of the total population. Durga puja and Christmas is celebrated very openly and you will be astonished to see the number of puja pandels in Bangladesh. Minorities are free to work in any fields however in politics though the representation of minorities is needed to be increased.

You can introspect for your own country on these issues. But why compare to Pakistan or any other country? You have to live somewhere to know things of this detail, its unfair to make these comparisons across borders like this.

In Bangladesh love marriages are pretty much accepted however in Pakistan honour killing is still a issue. Now tell me who is conservative?

That's more to do with their caste system, same thing occurs in rural areas of Northern India. Bangladeshi rural localities the area can be dirt poor but they'd still rather build a Mosque and on a day to day there would be nil attendees. That is the reality of BD. Where I live in BD, there are two newly built mosques right in front my doorstep, then another mosque on the footpaths to the Bazaar, then you pass the Shahi Eidgah, then eventually you come across the main Bazaar Mosque. My mothers village is even worse. Foreign Bangladeshis spend thousands on Jalsas when they land at their village, the rental of a mic & speaker system, hiring several big speakers who roar the thousands and then food. Plus the animals for sacrifice.

Anywhere Bangladeshis go, they build mosques. In Brazil the Lebanese have been there for a while but as soon as the Bangladeshis landed there were several Tabligh/Deobandi based mosques built.

Have a look at the North & South of England and you'll get the idea. Some places esp London remind you of rural East Bengal.

Bengalis become religious at the later stages of life - a common mindset and trend of our people & South Asians.

Don't want to come across like I'm on a ego trip, but Bengali's usually do not flaunt their 'religiousness' as compared to other groups.

Although the Jewish Bangladeshi in the interview says Majority of Bangladeshis are indoctrinated with Wahabi ideology but I would say not hardcore Wahabists but far more hardcore Islamists than Pakistanis of today. Secular Bangladeshis have become minority even during secular Govt.

Mosques are built all over the country in huge numbers. Madrasas are built, more than general schools even during Awami League Govt. The Govt. can not rule out public demand. Saudi Arabia funds all the model mosques currently in construction. At least 500 mosques are underway all over villages, towns. More are in planning currently.

I have found desis overall (whichever nationality) are more or less the same variance of secular vs non-secular.

There are other complexes that disguise inside the secular vs non-secular stuff too (when in fact it has nothing to do with religion)....that really I do not count because it needs the context.

All I am saying is to compare such minute detail at workplace kind of stuff, you also needed to have lived in Pakistan for same amount of time as Bangladesh. Have you?
