What's new

Arab countries at the 2015 AFC Asian Cup

.
I will re-quote this post on Monday, expect me:)

Not sure what you guys are doing on the Arab section? Did you expect Arab users here to support your team? Iran? Seriously? What's next? Israel?

Where did I say that UAE will defeat or draw against you? I just wrote that I hope that UAE will win. Just like if it was any other Arab team. Not that I will care a lot if the opposite happens.

If you want to support your team and hope that you will reach a final after almost 40 years of waiting then join your own section. Don't expect candies here when playing against Arab teams. Especially not when you guys are writing similar comments about Arab teams. Yet no single Arab is even visiting your section or flooding your threads whenever someone utters a negative thing about Arab country x or y. Anyway this is part of the Farsi identity so no surprise here.

They put is against Japan? Why? It seems like we only had 10 players as well. If I knew they we're going to pitch us against Japan I woukdve joined team and hacked every japensese player.

That's due to the drawing. Because one of the players received a red card.

The iraqi team has been for bad lately, i stopped bothering watching any of the matches for over two years now.

Every team has good and bad periods. Iraq has some talented players and did not play that bad against the defending champions and Asia's best team (arguably). Showed too much respect though.

I also don't understand what Younis is doing on the team. He is a shadow of his former self.

Yea, I've never watched any of the matches as I do'nt want to get high blood plressure they have been sucks.

One should always support the team!

didn't watch either, i will only watch the final

Aha. The final will probably be a repeat of Australia-Japan. They are both placed in their own "brackets" so they cannot play against each other until a potential final.

I dont expect you anything but being polite.

So we Arabs can't make banter in our own section now? Banter is part of football. Are we Arabs supposed to support Iran over an Arab team? In this case UAE. You guys made similar comments after winning against Bahrain and Qatar in your own section yet there was not 1 single Arab user that commented it let alone cared.

Fact of the matter is that a quick visit on Iranian football forums will show a much, much, much bigger antipathy against Arab teams.

Yes, I support UAE against Iran for various reasons. First of all UAE is an Arab team. Iran is not. UAE plays attractive offensive football (for Asian standards) Iran does not in my opinion because you guys focus mostly on a strong defense and organization.

If UAE wins or draws this means that you will end second. This means that you will most likely play against Japan while Iraq (the team I support as well) will play UAE which I believe Iraq would have a better chance of defeating. In semifinals everything can happen.

Lastly it is no secret that most Iranians hate everything Arab and always want Arab teams to lose (especially KSA) so what do you guys expect, as I wrote?

Don't tell me that ALL of you Iranian users are not praying and hoping that Uzbekistan will defeat KSA. Probably much more so than Arabs hoping that UAE will win against you.

My last post regarding this topic as this thread is not about Iran or this discussion.

P.S.: The reason why I wrote Farsis yesterday was actually due to being pissed off.

When did an Arab user enter you section during the summer (World Cup) to gloat over the fact that you won 0 games and only scored 1 goal and played extremely defensive and boring football for the neutral? Or called you sheep/cow brain eaters?:o:o_O Or laughed that you have never been able to quality from a group stage during a World Cup unlike KSA which did so in 1994? That never happened.

Your comparison is wrong here.

Also 99% of all 35 million or so Saudi Arabians and 450 million or so Arabs have never tried eating an Uromastyx in their entire life. The only type of reptile that is eaten.

That reptile (uromastyx) is only eating plants and herbs outside of occasionally eating insects when younger. It's a clean animal and not poisonous. On the other hand various wild animals that are eaten across the ME consume much, much more gross things.

People in the West etc. even keep it as a pet.

Besides this is practically the only "strange" food that we Arabs eat. This is nothing compared to what most Africans eat, many Latin Americans let alone Chinese (!) and half of Asia.

@Irfan Baloch (a Shia Baloch that once lived in KSA - so no lizard-eating Wahhabi) has tried eating dabb (as it is called in Arabic) and he says that it tastes like chicken and is harmless.

Lastly dabb is only eaten in Najd and not elsewhere in KSA and is seen as a delicate dish by some. I have not ties to Najd. Only about 1/3 of KSA's population has that. There are many, many more people of Najdi origin living in Iraq, Levant and elsewhere in the Arab world than KSA itself!

So you can call Arabs and Saudi Arabians that. Does not bother me at all. I actually rather eat a fried dabb (head, tail etc. is never eaten) rather than a boiled sheep or cow head where brain, eyes, tongue etc. is eaten and seen as a delicious part of the dish.

Anyway neither Arab cuisine, Iranian or ME cuisine as a whole have strange foods outside of 2-3 dishes. Nothing compared to the other regions that I have mentioned.

Serious mode off.

@kollang @al-Hasani

What's going on here my minions? :D

Nothing serious really. Just giving mutual love out.:D Me and Kollang have good ties. He knows that I have nothing against him. Football is passion, banter and rivalry though and you know me. I support almost anything Arab in sports and otherwise.:)

Any photos of Palestinian fans (read girls) in Australia?:D

I seriously got to marry. Fearing for my health. I got nephews already and I am quite envious.:( Time to settle down. So many temptations. Don't want to fall into that trap again.:( Pathetic I know.

Say what you want about this new independent life but having your own family must be something special.

No interest in sports? How is that possible bro? I know such people as well and I always wonder what the hell they do when we other "normal" people are watching sports or playing sports.

I watch football practically every single weekend and the odd NBA game once in a while and international sports events. I find most sports interesting. As long as people are competing.

Do you watch NFL? For my entire life I had no clue about the rules and the sport never caught my attention but lately it has grown on me especially after having an American friend from the uni introduce me to the sport. He is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and a Methodist.:D

Partying/drugs/work/studies/family , etc.. Some possibilities :D

I do watch NFL here and there. Especially lately the playoff. It is simple concept sport yet interesting at same time. I stopped following NBA since when I was younger because we had good teams and matchups at time . Now it's just boring for me.

Following in the footsteps of @IbnTaymiyyah I see.

I have probably only watched a few handful of NFL games in my life. Mostly I only watched the Super Bowl but that was only because this was a "social gathering" in my circle of friends. I still had no clue about many of the rules.

Really? I think that the NBA is more interesting and open than in a very, very long time. You got many contenders. The old guard at San Antonio looking for the final ring and a second championship in a row, now Cleveland (by default of getting Lebron or "King James" as he is also called), OKC, Thunderrs (who are the best team of the playoffs so far), Chicago (Rose is fit for the time being, lol), Miami although Lebron left, Clippers, Memphis, Houston, Portland etc.

To me it seems like a more open season than in a very long time. Spurs are still favorites though and I won't mind them winning again as they got Parker and Diaw as well as many likable players. It's an old guard but I admire their excellent team play and the coach Popovich is also a great tactician. It's also the most international team in the NBA. Or one of the most international teams at least. Something that I also like. Not much to hate really. Me being a Lakers fan or not.:D

@al-Hasani

Spurs are great but not interesting to watch. Kobe is fun to watch but he's resting. Back in the day we had best rivalries.

-Pistons vs Heat
-Pistons vs Cavs
-Lakers vs Suns
-Lakers vs Jazz

Etc....

It was so competitive and intense. Today its just different.

What the hell am I doing? I thought that this was the "Arabic Coffee Shop" thread!

Anyway since Palestine is eliminated and KSA is likely to follow suit in a short time we might as well hijack the thread.

Well, you are probably right in terms of rivalries being greater and more competitive once. In fact you are right as Lakers are pathetic nowadays, Celtics as well let alone Pistons. Jazz are nowhere to be seen too. The LA - Sacramento rivalry is gone too.

In terms of teams that could possibly win the NBA (at least having a real chance of doing it) then I believe that the playing field has widened.

Anyway since you are from Michigan or around Detroit then you must remember Ben Wallace. One of the best defensive players and blockers out there. I vaguely remember watching a NBA finals series with Detroit when I was around 10-11 year old, lol.

Still remember some of the players though.

Yes, Kobe is sadly past it. I don't understand why Lakers renewed his contract. His salary is WAY to high. They could have constructed a whole new team (almost) if they had let him leave. Anyway he is a institution in LA so easier said than done. Let alone the commercial value that he still has.

.
@al-Hasani

Pistons had an energetic team with best defense. It was so fun watching them. Today its a mess.

Most old players retired already and that's why I stopped watching I missed those 5 players in starting line up. :(
