What's new

Apple unveils iPhone 8 and £1,000 iPhone X with all-screen display and wireless charging

Look at its design does it not remind you of the flagship of a certain south korean company? :D
No riddles please, name the model. Some elements can be identical but then Apple offers a unique features and technologies. For example the variable refresh rate and upto 120 Hz pro-motion that no other smartphone has of now. Similarly plethora of features that are first on the market. Soon those will be replicated but mostly not as seamless as Apple's implementation and integration.

Too expensive. Even for a phone with the latest bells and whistles.

My older phone does everything perfectly fine. I'm not going to pay such a ridiculous amount of money for a new phone.

.
Price is reasonable in united state which is very much same like any other flagship but it too expensive to buy in rest of world

Pricing iPhone 8 iPhone 8 Plus iPhone X
US :$699 $799 $999
Canada $929 $1,059 $1,319
Australia $1,079 $1,229 $1,579
Germany €799 €909 €1.149
France €809 €919 €1.159
Spain €809 €919 €1.159
Italy €839 €949 €1.189
UK £699 £799 £999
Russia RUB 56,990 RUB 64,990 RUB 79,990

It's definitely expensive, but for someone like me who hasn't upgraded in almost 5 years, it's a worthy investment.

.
Not an Apple guy at all.. But imho the iPhone 8 plus appears to be the best value out of the three. (value to tech ratio)

If I did move over to Apple, that would most likely be the phone I would choose. The Note 8 is a disappointment to me, so I'm probably going to opt for a Galaxy S8 Plus.

Will definitely keep the iPhone 8 plus in mind though.

Yes if you are someone who upgrade phone after 3/4 years then its worthy investment and future proofs and you are in USA so you can get it cheaper as compare to rest of world

sadly i keep changing phones every now and then to get the taste of all latest phones lol

If you are talking about price to tech ratio then s7 edge is better value for money
S7 edge offer more battery life , camera is same and performance is very much same because s8 has slightly powerful cpu/gpu..note 8 is flop

Well I was specifically talking about the best value of the three new iPhone models. The middle model iPhone 8 plus is the best value of the three imho.

As for the Note 8 .. while I wouldn't call it a flop, it is definitely a big disappointment to me specifications wise.

To me the Note 8 is essentially a Galaxy S8 Plus with an S Pen. not worth the premium price increase over the Galaxy S8 Plus.

I'm currently a very happy Note 5 user and might just opt to keep it for another year.

.
lol sure apple phones are pricey but top end phone of each mobile brand is expensive for example look at price of google pixel XL which has even lower specification and then look prices of htc u11, s8 plus, note 8 etc ..
They actually offer more for a price lower than that of iphone in most cases and offer more features such as removable batteries(in some cases),headphone jacks and sd card support while apple charges 150$ for a wireless bluetooth headphone which is really easy to lose
Apple phones are benchmark champions if you are after 3d gaming then they have most raw power of cpu and Gpu than any other flagship.. I
That has more to do with how apple handles things with optimization credit should be given where its due apple makes full use of their hardware but it all fails when you compare the display :D
Btw did you see the keynote?Apparently face-id has some issues bad news for makeup lovers and folks who experiment with facial hair :D
Market share is not bad for a company who produce only 3 phone every year in comparision to thousand models of google, htc, samsung, lg, chinese mobile brands i.e huawei, xiamon. zte oneplus eec etc
Its not a problem now but will become a real problem in the future they have to do something about it before its too late

Everything announced today

So, from top to bottom:

  • The Apple Watch Series 3 ships on 22 September. $329/£329 without cellular connection, and $£399 with.
  • The Apple TV 4k ships on 22 September, at $£179.
  • The iPhone 8 starts at $£699 for 64GB and the iPhone 8 plus $£799, shipping on 22 September.
  • And the iPhone X (that’s “iPhone Ten”, if you want to be one of those people who calls a gif a jif) starts at $£999 for a 64GB model, rising to an astonishing $£1,149 for the 256GB version, and will be available for pre-order from 27 October, shipping on 3 November
Apple has unveiled the iPhone X, its most futuristic ever phone.

The company says that the new phone is "the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone" and that it "will set the path of technology for the next decade". It was released alongside the more conventional iPhone 8, at an Apple event in California.

The new phone will cost $999 and will be released on 3 November, Apple said. (It also confirmed that the name is pronounced "ten", not "ex".)

Chief among the new features is a screen that goes all the way over the front of the phone.

That display is what Apple refers to as "super retina", using OLED technology for richer colours and sharper images.

Apple also boasted about how the phone can be unlocked simply by looking at it, because of sensors packed into the notch at the top of the screen.

"With iPhone 10, your iPhone is locked until you look at it, and it recognises you," said marketing chief Phil Schiller. "Nothing has ever been more simple, natural and effortless. We call this Face ID. Face ID is the future of how we unlock our smartphones and protect our sensitive information."

It does that by first taking a mathematical model of the users face. It then users those sensors – invisibly and in real time – to check whether the person holding the phone's face matches up with the one it has stored.

It said that the biometric recognition is far more accurate than the TouchID fingerprint sensor that is used in all of Apple's phones up until now, including the iPhone 8 that was released at the same time.

Fcxk Apple....

What a disappointment.....

They Just added a 1GB RAM and a new Chip and called the Iphone 7 and & plus as 8 and 8 plus

LoL Iphone X doesn't bring anything new... just copied the Android market, So much for the apple innovation and their Premium pricing...... damn it

.
iphone is good value for money who is also using mac book and an ipad
security wise iphone software may be the best but setting it up & to be used by an average Pakistani is way much difficult than any andriod version which has become pretty much mainstream for Pakistani Middle & lower middle class.
i used an iphone after using andriod for three four years but could not get on with it, back then it did not have bluetooth and 3g was not yet entered into service.
