I have been saying it since at least early 2007 that Apple's dominance in computing is a dangerous event. I have a boycott of Apple and its products.

If Apple had won the race against Microsoft then innovation would have been much slower and more expensive. Even now, my $249 Toshiba netbook running Windows 7 Starter edition is more productive, has better storage, has physical keyboard is light-weight than Apple's stupid and expensive iPAD of (minimum) $499.

Looks like more and more people are waking up to it. Boycott Apple and encourage others to do the same if you agree.

Big Brother Apple and the Death of the Program

The Future
Is this the kind of computer we want? A closed, completely controlled platform that hews to one company's vision of what we should be watching, downloading or doing? It is frighteningly easy to picture a Mac where all your apps have to be approved by Apple; all your music, movies and TV shows are streamed from iTunes; all your books come from iBooks. This will be totally fine for some people. But as the rest of us become increasingly comfortable molding our computing experience to our own needs, this strict environment starts to seem claustrophobic—even technologically totalitarian. It's still startling to think, even after the last few years of the App Store on the iPhone, that this is coming from the same company that made the 1984 ad over 25 years ago.

Don't be ridiculous, Apple just filled the void and is highly successful in this current stage. I am sure that other companies will try and out do them but for now Apple is the gold standard for multiple products.

Even if a few paranoid people boycott them, it would not even dent their ever growing fan base.

But you have to remember that Microsoft still is a major player within the industry albeit not as good in terms of quality.

Btw, Apple even though their products are expensive, they are better than all their competitors and iPad's are not competitors of notebooks but rather tablets.

microsoft will have to come up with some new brilliant ideas to match the grawth of apple today, i am a microsoft fan and hope they recover their lost era

Apple is the epitome of innovation but Microsoft represents epitome of convenience and compatibility.

Apple is good but no where as capable as Microsoft in terms of market outreach.

This is quite old and iPhone can do all those things that Android is mentioning in this picture.

Even if it could not do something, you could just jailbreak it and voila, it will be able to do it.

@TFaz,
Apple filled the 'void'? I think not. If you mean the 'void' was lack of good smart phones then, yes, may be. But Apple filled the 'void' with trying to pour cement into the void after sneaking in. Apple's universe was always a closed one and today it is just driving to control everything.
Talk about 'paranoid'? Who made the '1984' commercial? Yes, Apple.
Anyway, I don't have stocks in MSFT or Google but I wish them success. At least with Microsoft you can take their OS and install anywhere you wanted to and that generated so much in hardware and software innovation for decades.
About Apple being successful, yes, it is. But 'success' does not always mean 'better' product. If so then GW Bush was a better president for being elected twice.
Apple's day is today but more and more people are waking up to them. And I am glad for that.
Oh, my $249 Toshiba netbook can still do much more than the 'sexy' toy for the rich called iPAD ($499).

PS. I am glad that most of the Indian bloggers on the net are in general more anti-Apple. India is a huge market and can launch a counter attack against the new Big Brother Apple.

Apple has its advantage and disadvantages. Apple products are excellent for creative work, their use and style add to such an environment. But for ordinary or heavy uses, then stick with windows.

Similarly Apple is expensive, much more than others but their style far outweighs the rest.

There are many things that Apple can do that others cannot do and that makes it worth owning.

But each to his own.

I grant that their products are polished. But, boy, if I were to spend 3x the amount for similarly functional product then I can at least expect some polish.

But what I and increasing number of people are fighting against are the control-freak, Big Brother Apple which can NEVER seem to do anything wrong by the mainstream media either because they have money invested or their (rich) journalists are fanbois themselves. Look at the way NY Times gives space to Apple on its front page almost every day? When Windows Phone 7 came out on October 11 it was no where to be seen except later in the day in the 'Technology' section. But today -even- Engadget (another Apple fanboi site) seems to say that Samsung Focus is pretty okay.

Samsung Focus review -- Engadget

I see Apple as a cult. Pure and simple. If Apple is above criticism and scrutiny--and it certainly is for the most part--then the liberal in me can see a totalitarian company hellbent on making profit come what way.

Apple should not be given a free pass. I am glad Google has started the war. Here is a well known (at least amongst geeks) quote:

Google: Apple is Big Brother now ? Cell Phones & Mobile Device Technology News & Updates | Geek.com

If Google did not act, we faced a Draconian future where one man, one company, one device, one carrier would be our only choice. That’s a future we don’t want. If you believe in openness, if you believe in choice, if you believe in innovation from everyone, then welcome to Android.

Apple is one over rated brand & whats up with I-phone's marketing with special titles of 3g & 4g ? like the rest of the companies don't even know what 3g & 4g are.....
