The Finnish self-propelled artillery installation 155GH52-SP-T55 on tests-developed in 2001-2003 years.

Tampella 155 GH 52, an enhanced and upgraded version of the Tmapella 155 K38. In 2003 a gun was mounted on a Soviet T-55 chassis for use as a self-propelled gun prototype. This vehicle was designed primarily as a design study for the Egyptian Army. It [the towed gun, not the SP version] was later sold to Egypt where it is being manufactured locally under license. Finland and Egypt are the only two users of this gun.

Otokar Cobra 1 on the maimal limits.
Turkish Land Forces hasnt got wheeled vehicles with 20-25-30mm autocannons. Even thought They havent 30mm auto cannnons tracked vehicles.


Cheapest, compact, fast. tactial vehicle with lethal weapons.
Like a LAV 150, Styrker, Panhard CRAB etc.....
25mm turrets weight nearly 1000kg also BMP1 73mm recoilles gun very light.
First Cobra can carry this turrets.
I think 30mm turrets can not be carried by first COBRA.
Maybe Cobra 2 can carry 2.5 ton

Only panhard Crab for street fighthing against terrorists.
Other IFVs for trnsporting 6-8 soldiers, they are verry huge and big.

EE-3 Jararaca weight only 5 ton like Cobra.

How many shell has this 90mm gun?
This gun is low recoilled, like M551 sheridan , british fv 76mm vehicles, BMP1 gun.
I wonder that against terrorism, for fighting in the cities which caliber gun more usefull?
In city conditions ammunitions dont need long range and high velocity but they should have High Explosive spesification.
Because they will be used bunker buster in cities.
And they should be little forms but more quanttities in the vehicles.
And they should work with .50 autogun.

Brazilian EE-9 Cascavel also has 90mm gun and 44 shells.
Iraq army has started use.
But there are differents between 90mm calibers.

France 90mm

They are seen good for city conditions.

But for me BMP-4 turret 30mmautocannon with 100mm low recoill gun is great
BMP1 72mm gun also very usefull for city conditions.

British CRVT 76mm low velocity gun.

Cobra advantages are:
1. V-hull design for IED protection.
2. Mobility in rough terrain
3. Versatility in carrying different types of weapons, ATGM, SAM etc

If you put a bigger turret on Cobra,

1. its weight will increase and can affect its mobility.
2. That also requires space for a different kind of ammunition inside its storing compartment. smaller calibre gun, more ammunition storage.
3. Cobra mobility can be affected due to recoil of a heavier gun

Cobra can be good against Mines and IED, and retains the scoot ability of a humvee to leave a scene immediately but if it stands its ground, it doesnt have adequate protection against RPG. Add on armour or SLAT armour will increase its weight. For a 190hp engine that might become difficult.

The crew will increase if a heavier turret is put in place. wiki says Crew is 1 +8. 1 means driver, then it must carry 7 passengers? if a turret is placed on top, it may reduce the troop compartment (due to turret space or ammo storage) and crew will be increased to 2 atleast. That means maximum 6 troop carrying capacity or lesser to 4 or 5.

Piranha or LAV III can be equipped with SLAT armor for RPG protection. 25mm is good enough for urban combat. troop carrying capacity is 3+6, almost like Bradley.
