What's new

Anyone familiar with Android software repair? Need Help.

Yes maybe but i'm totally newbie in android modding stuff. I'm a Apple user for 5 years straight & i know about most things about jealbreaking & cydia stuff & Android is very complicated system b/c of lack of safety features. Example, in iOS after Jailbreaking, there is a feature called 'Safe Mode'. Like if you do some thing stupid to it or Install a wrong tweak or extension, you could always remove that problematic tweak in safe mode & return back to normal mode without any hassle. & even if you F it up big then just plug it in iTunes & restore the iOS. Very simple.

Now the thing is, i don't understand android rooting stuff so i don't wanna mess with it even more b/c i read somewhere on XDA forums that if you perform the fixing process wrong, you can also hard brick the device.

Seems like that software repair guy couldn't get it to work.

Btw do you know about this stuff or just basics?

Unfortunately I am quite involved with stuffs. Don't have time to post a tutorial. But search for android rooting basics on google. It will throw up a lot of entries. Skim through some. I am sure you will understand the basics. It's not a big deal that much is assured.

The bare bones steps are:
1. Unlocking of boot-loader
2. Root your ROM to get super User access
3. Install some recovery app like CWM (clockwork mod- simple and preferable) or TWRP
4. Install a fresh ROM.

As long as you can transfer files to phone memory from your Mac/PC, you should be fine !!

You destroyed the phone... huhahaha.. just kidding.
The issue is solvable, but I am not too sure about the process for it for LG G2. I recovered my phone recently from a similar issue so it is not something you should be worried about.
The problem is that when you root a phone the stock recovery stops working.
So basically what you would be doing is connecting your phone to a computer and flashing a new recovery using fastboot and voila you will be back on track.
Clockwork mod is a good recovery to use here.
LG G2 Reddit is a good way to find how you will need to do this.
As i mentioned in my second post here that i flashed wrong files in to it. The repair guy tried different methods to recover it from fast boot mode but he's unsuccesful so far. Seems like i will have to do that my self with the help of you guys... If you guys are ok with that. :) @Oracle @Providence

Btw i already posted the same query on that G2 subreddit. Some people there are a bunch of douchebags.

Subreddit ?

That's a troll house.

Try to get a recovery installed first. Hint: use the powerful adb

Well i just got back my G2 from the repair guy. He couldn't fix it. I live in a small city so there arent many good software guys in town. Might send it to other city, namely Karachi. But my little brother insisted that he will try to fix it by himself. Btw the good thing is, now it's in fast boot mode, gone the grey lines & stuff. Now the G2 has a chance to reborn again... right? :/

So i need help from a professional geek (heh)

You can do it yourself.

Even I did by doing a thorough reading of large bunch of blogs and making notes. Spent a day and VOILA had my own 5.1.1 ROM running !

Every guide is different on XDA to fix this issue. It's confusing me so much. Can you point one which is easier & better tested?

Btw the first issue is, the pc is not recognising the device. It's showing it as 'unknown device'

You sure its hard bricked? I read it late but i can help you if you still got some life left in your phone :D All you needed was putting lg g2 in download mode and flashing correct firmware of your device through software LG flashing tool

always read and research before doing rooting and replacing stock firmwares. I am doing rooting and changing softwares fro last 3/4 years without bricking a single device. Its very hard to brick lg, sony and Samsung phones

well people will say you broke the phone which is not the case here . power off the phone and take out the battery for 2-3 hours. reinsert the battery and go for downloading mode instead of recovery mode , Use Odin software and install new ROM. as you have crashed the ROM so its better to re partition

Dude Odin can only be used for Samsung devices. It should not be use for any other brand as they all have their own flashing tool and you will definitely brick your device lol

Thanks dude but i just got it fixed through Jaytech tool for 2000/-

Now its running fine.

Btw as you can read my previous posts, I stated that mobile dealer lied to me about the model no. He said that it's D802 & it also stated the same in system info & i double checked it through SRKTools with IMEI checker. Then i proceeded with flashing D802 files & it got bricked. Originally it's a LS980 (sprint)variant. These kits are coming from China after casings & software converting.
