We forced India to talk, says Pak minister

Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has claimed that India agreed to resume bilateral dialogue because Pakistan did not give in to pressure.

Qureshi boasted of forcing India to come to the talking table while addressing a public gathering in Multan on Sunday.

"India, which had talked of severing all contacts with us, has now come to us. We never kneeled down before them and kept sticking to our stance," claimed Qureshi.:pop:

Qureshi had just a week back complained about India's reluctance to talk and had even threatened to go the United Nation to force India.

"Pakistan will approach the international forum if India does not agree to talk," Qureshi had said while speaking in London.

India and Pakistan have agreed to take steps to restore ties that had been severed following the 26/11 terror attacks.

The foreign secretaries of the two countries are expected to meet later this month as a part of a new confidence building exercise.

A broad agreement has been reached that the two foreign secretaries will focus on rebuilding confidence post 26/11.

On the agenda will be ways to enhance co-operation in counter-terrorism, enhancing cross LoC and bilateral trade, enhancing travel linkages like new buses and train services, boosting tourism flows to each other's countries, ensuring sanctity of the ceasefire, humanitarian issues such as those on prisoner treatment and facilitating release of fishermen.

Both sides have agreed to junk the old composite dialogue format and talks, to start with, will focus on humanitarian issues and confidence building measures, leaving tricky issues like the Kashmir dispute to much later.

I wonder why the hell is India still busy planning dates to meet these guys.

.
Hope they take the necessary measures to ensure that the talks remain uninterrupted this time :undecided:

Pak stoops to new low, says we forced India to talk

Days after New Delhi offered to resume talks Islamabad, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has claimed that India was forced to come to the talking table because Pakistan did not give in to pressure.
Addressing a public gathering in Multan, Qureshi boasted of forcing India to resume bilateral talks.

"India, which had talked of severing all contacts with us, has now come to us. We never kneeled down before them and kept sticking to our stance," claimed Qureshi.:enjoy:

First desparate for talks, Qureshi had just a week back complained about India's reluctance to talk and had even threatened to go the United Nation to force India. He now shows arrogance.

"Pakistan will approach the international forum if India does not agree to talk," Qureshi had said while speaking in London.:close_tema:

India had offered to resume bilateral talks. The Indo-Pak ties had strained following the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

Both the nations have agreed to hold foreign secretary-level talks later in Febraury.

Playing to gallery, Qureshi rants Pakistan didn't kneel

Pakistan on Monday ratcheted up the rhetoric and tried to score points by claiming that New Delhi had blinked first with the offer for talks. Even before finalising dates for the foreign secretary-level talks, Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a public meeting in Multan claimed that Pakistan had held its ground and forced India to the negotiating table.

“Two days ago, India has approached and said they want to sit and talk to us and want to resume their relationship with us,” Mr Qureshi said, adding: “Pakistan hasn’t knelt... It didn’t kneel. Pakistan held its ground.”

Speaking in the affirmative over engaging India, the Pakistani foreign minister further added: “We will talk to them and present our case because our case is strong, it is not weak. Whether it be Kashmir or water or any other issue.”

Mr Qureshi was further quoted as saying that India wanted to isolate Pakistan diplomatically, but had failed due to effective diplomatic efforts by Islamabad. In another outlandish remark, he claimed domestic pressure had increased on the Indian government for the resumption of composite dialogue.

New Delhi is bracing itself for increased rhetoric from Islamabad and is not attaching any importance to the latest statement by the Pakistani foreign minister. Mr Qureshi’s remarks are being seen to be for domestic consumption.

The Indian government is now waiting for a formal response from Pakistan on the date and venue of the meeting. The two sides also have not yet finalised the list of subjects to be discussed during the foreign secretary-level talks.

While New Delhi has been saying that terrorism will be the core issue of the talks which are also aimed at reviewing the bilateral relationship, Islamabad has continued to push for a resumption of the composite dialogue process. The offer for talks is seen as an attempt to establish lines of communication between the foreign ministries of the two countries at the foreign secretary-level talks.

Meanwhile, the United States dismissed the contention that it was propping up India and said that India and Pakistan needed to resolve differences bilaterally.

“I would tell you that the United States clearly has not or has ever propped up India. India has not needed us for that purpose and, in fact, those familiar with the history would know that our relationship with India was fairly strained until not too many years ago,” defence secretary Robert Gates said.

He further said that having a dialogue was the best way to avoid misunderstanding. “Having an open and candid and completely transparent dialogue... seems to be the best way to avoid misunderstanding,” The US defence secretary said.

Obviously you will not know the kind of begging and pleading that would have been done by Pakistani Politicians to save their so called government.......they must have told India ....Please talk or we are out of our jobs ...and army would take over. LOL

This has been happening every time.....India says lets talk...some Jerk....says I forded India to talk.....and If India does not talk...the same jerk says.....See we are ready to talk ...but India does not talk....

Why is Pakistan so desparate for dialogue?

The Indian establishment has once again given in to the hope for changing the Pakistani mindset with dialogue. Immediately after the announcement of resumption of talks, we had the peace-nicks in Pakistan (so vociferous in their demand for good neighbourly relations with India) gone to the background, while the hardliners including the likes of the Gen Ashfaq Kayani, Messrs Hafiz Saeed, Makki, Syed Shahabuddin and their puppet in the civilian government, the PM Mr Gilani, all were breathing fire either ridiculing India for what they called as giving in to world (read US) pressure or reiterating their goal to have rivers of blood flow in India (in a mammoth rally of extremists to further their jihad against India). All this happened in the glare of the media people. Therefore the Pakistani authorities cannot feign ignorance about it(although they did exactly that). The world knows that Pakistan uses these jehadi outfits and criminals as strategic assets against India. It seems just so implausible that Pakistan cannot control the India centric jihadi organizations there, with their PM Gilani expressing inability to guarantee non-occurrence of another 26/11. We in India not only bought that excuse from Pakistan saying that it indeed was a realistic comment to make, we rewarded that country with what they desperately sought – “dialogue”. Sure enough the Mullahs and Military walas in Pakistan would get the message right. They can now go ahead and plan/execute another 26/11 type mission in India! But why is Pakistan so desperate for dialogue with India? The reasons are not too difficult to see, though we Indians continue to behave like an ostrich, especially the so-called secularists and left-liberals. For starters, the work of Pakistan against India is all done under cover through surreptitious methods. Whether it is pumping in fake currency into India or sending in infiltrators in droves into India for spreading mayhem or being at the forefront to execute the larger plan of like-minded Islamic countries to Islamize India by pushing in illegal settlers from Bangladesh in an effort (they have been largely successful with a majority of the districts in Assam now Moslem) to change the demography of India starting with Assam and West Bengal - all of these involves covert, surreptitious methods of planning and executing. Pakistan knows that their job at this becomes far more simple when there is a façade of good neighbourly relations with India; when the latter lowers its guard which even otherwise is lukewarm (only just improving in the aftermath of 26/11 but still shrouded by a reluctance to accept ground realities thanks to the cynical vote bank politics, which Pakistan exploits to the hilt). Therefore the reason for Pakistan’s desperation for dialogue is not difficult to fathom. Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Kayani has stated that Pakistan’s foreign policy will be India centric till as long as the “Kashmir issue” is not resolved (obviously in their favour). To this he has also added another, this time one that at least makes some common sense – the water related issues between the two countries. To sum up one can hardly expect any reason from the mad caps in Pakistan. All said and done the so called moderates in Pakistan who seriously wish India well, are so far and few that it is just a natural corollary for that country’s perpetual hostility against India to last until they achieve their dream of Islamizing the entire South Asia (unfinished business from the times of Moslem rule in the sub-continent). For the present though Pakistan is conveniently placed with the US requiring Pakistani services for their “war on terror”, and Pakistan in turn galvanizing that compulsion of the Americans to “extort” pressure on India for dialogue, alluding to inability to focus on the militants on the ****** border citing what they call “aggressive and hostile India” on the East. But one thing can now be taken for granted. Fresh terror attacks are very much in the offing now in India and the incorrigible political class and the so called peace-nicks in India (like The Hindu newspaper) can take the blame for that!

Qureshi's rhetoric: Talk invitation came after attack threats

A day after claiming that it was India which had backtracked from the dialogue table, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was at it again.
Addressing a gathering in Multan on Monday, he repeated his rhetoric saying that a year after India threatened to attack Pakistan after 26/11 it was offering to restart the 'composite dialogue'.

Addressing a gathering in Multan on Monday Qureshi said, "They were preparing for an attack on Pakistan. Today, after one year, those who were making threats about attacking Pakistan following the Mumbai incident, those same forces are sending Pakistan an invitation for talks."
“This turnaround had occurred due to national solidarity and a pledge to keep moving forward with the same spirit for development of Pakistan,” he added.
His latest comments came after a claim that Pakistan had forced India to talk and not the other way around.

“Pakistan hasn’t knelt... It didn’t kneel. Pakistan held its ground,” Qureshi had said on Sunday.
The foreign secretaries of the two countries are expected to meet later this month as a part of a new confidence building measure.
