The strategy was to show world we are small and weaker nation and India is aggressive nation attacking us. Similar to what Israel did to gather support by showing evil Arabs attacking a tiny nation.

Only pakistanis can classify losing 2/3ds of kashmir, losing parts of lahore, getting your country cut in half, losing siachen and parts of baltistan, and losing many peaks in kargil such as point 5310 as a victory. I don't see any religious angle when it comes to you, at least not the ones Jinnah saw.

I stick to my original question that are there any powerful empire that more than half of subcontinent (i.e, from todays Pakistan all the way up to Bengladesh, from Kashmir up North down to Tamil Nadu) with any Pakistan city as capital? Don't come with slippery slope of Mughal campaigns with temporary capitals. Or Kanishka who couldn't make past Central India.
