What's new

American life through the eyes of a Pakistani

author is an undergraduate student, Taimur Ahmed, at the Marietta College in Ohio.

American people always hypocrites and double faces to the welcoming new foreigners to the new land in just few years.

Just HTF did you get that from an article that says

You reach your destination and contrary to what everyone has told you, the locals are actually nice to you! It’s the Pakistani’s who try to keep their distance. They don’t seem to want to be associated with you, they don’t seem confident enough to let everyone know they are from Pakistan. But it’s okay, because you’ve already made tons of American friends. They are all really nice to you and make you feel really comfortable. They ask you plenty of questions because they seem to know that everything they’ve been shown on TV can’t mostly be true. And that’s when you realize it’s not the American people who hate us, not even the American government.

They do not have any hidden agendas against us; they do not want to harm us.

didn't you know he is physic ?:azn:
been to the states a lot ,and baring 2 incidents i was very comfortable ,and mind you i traveled to almost the entire breath of the States baring the north west .

This student is clearly Americanized and heavily influenced by the western culture.

Nothing wrong with that, but the way he actually tries to put the blame on us Pakistanis for most of our negative views when it comes to the U.S. and their foreign policy for example, is proof that his mindset is pro American.

I have an American classmate from San Fransisco, really cool guy and doesn't have any hatred for anyone, I can laugh and have a good time with him, that's not the issue.

Alot of Pakistanis do not view the American people as "bad" or anything close to that.
It's the American government and their worldwide policies that have messed things up for the image of America abroad.

Basically, this student is telling us Pakistanis to not be so paranoid, and that the U.S. isn't all that bad, heck, even their government is friendly.

Well someone drag that Pakistani young bloke into FATA and other regions.
Let him see what the drone strikes can also do i.e. f--k up the public support for the U.S. in Pakistan.
Drag that moron into other parts of the world where the U.S. is heavily involved.

The ignorance of this kid makes me want to beat his ***.

The fact of the matter is that the Americans will always be wary of any threats, and will view anything and anyone as threatening untill they have actually spoken to someone or interacted with them, and this is only because of their government, being a superpower, having a long history filled with countless of wars. Well sooner or later people start noticing that. :undecided:

This student should go abroad and tell Americans not to be so paranoid about our country and our nukes. Instead of putting the blame on our shoulders.

AS SOMEONE WHO HAS LIVED IN THE USA FOR NEARLY FORTY YEARS, ALL I AM GOING TO SAY IS THAT USA MAY NOT BE A PERFECT COUNTRY, BUT IT IS FAR BETTER THAN MOST COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. IF WE OPEN IMMIGRATION TODAY TO THE WORLD, HALF THE WORLD WOULD APPLY TO MOVE TO THE THE GOOD OLE USA. HOW MANY COUNTRIES CAN CLAIM THAT ?

When i was studying in Pennsylvania, my American friend from Texas used to joke around that if i went to Texas i would be shot instantly.......:sniper:

Too bad you hadn't lived in Pakistan for forty years, otherwise we wouldn't be seeing so many American flags popping up from your post.

Depends on where you go. On the border, Texas would just send you back to Mexico (Mexican or not), but in Dumas county, you would be shot on sight, and as for Jasper, "N----r, don't be caught here after Sundown!"

I understood but almost all Americans hate Muslims, Pakistanis, and everyone more than previous years ago. Differences Americans accept the major media whatever it informed them without arguments or questions. Pakistanis always question the media in harsh arguments and disagreements.

Just saying hi, please, good luck, wassup, and thank you doesn't means anything, it is common easy to talk. America govt invested heavily on great values of individuals to raise properly in right way while Pakistan doesn't care every individuals.

I wish more people could understand this. lol
I have Indians here always telling me I can never run away from my Indian heritage (like I'm even trying to  ), or since I'm claiming to be both Indian and American, I won't get anywhere being "stuck in the middle". Ahhh, whatever though. Adaption is just great, especially when you get it. lol
Anyway, nice to see another like-minded South Asian, mate.
