AMCA Model Resurfaces During IAF Chief's Visit To ADA

AMCA.JPG

The wind-tunnel model of India's conceptual fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) was on display when IAF chief ACM PV Naik visited the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) on July 16. The model was first displayed during AeroIndia last year.

cudn't they take a better pic than that ...... the model is hardly visible when zoomed !!

I think Ist of all they have to deiced which equipment they have to install go for Indigenous and which Equipment they want to import from other country. dnt try to done or manufacture all in-house coze we are not US or Russia we cannot make all the part. dnt mistake like we did in LCA where we try to make every in-house......

by the time amca gets ready ..... kaveri wud be ready (hopefully), so wud be our aesa radar (one which wud be used on tejas mk2 can also be used on amca (by inc the t/r modules)).....

so i don't think we have to import any significant tech.....

Friends!! Though the image of this model is not a clear one, yet it seems different from earlier windtunnel model. I mean ,it seems much bulkier(in looks like f-35) than earlier one.

Earlier one.

I think it is just the angle that makes it look so. They cannot go on experimenting with the external shape and size continuously at this time when a design has already become successful in wind tunnel tests.

They know that there's more to stealth than just serpentine shapes and if they're indeed planning to get this bird in IAF by 2020-25, then I think they won't be toying with the design any more. Must be working on coatings, radars and stuff.

@ T sharing,
cant there be a posibility of existence of two wind tunnel models...
Yeah maybe you're right but they would have released the second test model as well. One thing we know for sure is that its going to be a twin engine fighter. Knowing the delays our government agencies make, I don't think that they'd have time to tinker around with design much.

And BTW, name is Denzongpa.. Tshering Denzongpa.. not 'T sharing'.

May be some secrecy.. well, from any angle the new model looks like f-35, not earlier one as f-22.And yes it will be a twin engine tiger:cheesy:

Like Danny Denzongpa, btw he is a great actor of Bollywood, And sorry for giving a "SPACE" bw letters.. I will take care in future Mate!!

Guys, they have only studies of the AMCA so far, not a ready design! Windtunnel models will always be different and have changes till a final design is been chosen. If you look at this new model, it looks like it has only 1 engine and no tail fins, which would be more than an ambitous project, if you see the level of indigenous fighter design at the moment. This won't be real anytime soon, especially if we don't get experienced partners.
