AMCA (Fifth generation FIghter plane)Primary design ready. 5000 cr fund shall be sought for developm

If AMCA needs funds, I think we can split the $30 billion inflated price for MMRCA by scrapping the deal.

US$ 15 billion will fetch us good amount of MKIs which doesn't need any additional logistics and training costs since we already have it in the ecosystem.

The rest US$15 billion we can flood the AMCA research division with it.

If this means we can get the jet in good quality and in the right time, then we must.

Rafale is not worth it.
$30 BN is a BS figure. It is around $15-16BN of which 50% will be plunged back into the Indian aerospace industry as part of offsets anyway. The Rafale is also coming with ToT, this deal will add a huge amount to the Indian aerospace industry and will transform it in many ways.

How about, a twin engine technology demonstrator... that would be pretty cool.

Simpler would be a single engine tech demonstrator, based on FGFA and type 30 (common parts like weapon bays and no additional investments for engine upgrades needed, production line will be available in India anway), to develop stealth design expertise.

The quoted figure is anywhere between $20-30 billion after factoring in the inflation of last three years. Add to it the new insistence of French to give the latest tranche only rather than the one agreed, further jacking up the price.

At this rate we will be buying an older jet while paying the price of a 5th generation fighter.

As for ToT, the French apparently are going back on their word on whether HAL is capable or not and have chosen Reliance to build the jets. It would have been good if Reliance had anything to do with aerospace earlier. But bypassing the only agency that has the knowledge in India to make complex fighter jets (even if license assembled), is against the RFP quoted.

I am personally, one of the fiercest critics of HAL but this is a complex hi-tech fighter jet we're talking about. Not some basic piston engine trainer for new pilots.

Not to mention, Dassault is refusing the terms and conditions that it agreed when entering the contract, which got it this far.

If it had refused earlier, they would have been out in the first stage itself.

The way it is seen now, newer MKIs will join IAF and Rafale is likely to be scrapped.

No, non,no no! Who has told you this? They are either ignorant to the reality or lying. The latest official figures (as per a few weeks ago) are $15-16 Billion. Unless the deal has gone up by 100% in a few weeks the deal is still around that figure. The MoD and Dassualt would both corroborate this.

Anyway I'll remind you, either way, 50% will be plunged back into the India under offsets.

Excellent project like tejas congratulations

May I remind you that there are many creative ways of pricing a ware as complex as a modern fighter jet and both figures of $16 billion and $ 50 billion can be correct simultaneously.

When the RM of India says there are hitches in the deal, there are hitches in the deal.
Period.

Excellent project like tejas congratulations
 But you still didn't develop a single part of any aircraft forget developing a 4th generation fighter.

Don't bring FC-1 here please, MKI has many Indian systems but that doesn't make it Indian. How many systems in JF-17 is Pakistan, please provide a list.

He has not once mentioned cost was one of these hitches however so let's leave cost out of it but this is the one factor that everyone seems so obsessive over.

So why would the RM mention cost explicitly in a media interaction ?
