ISLAMABAD, APRIL 4: Calling President Pervez Musharraf a “cashable product”, Pakistan’s new Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar has said the government is ready to work with him and use his standing in the world community to secure aid for the country.

The remarks of Mukhtar, a senior leader of PPP which is heading the ruling coalition, sparked an angry reaction from former Premier Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N, a key component of the government, which has been demanding resignation of Musharraf.

Mukhtar, also a leading industrialist, noted that slain ex-premier Benazir Bhutto had described Musharraf as a “salable commodity” in efforts to seek global aid for Pakistan.

The PPP considers Musharraf as a “cashable product” and the new government would “like to test his worth in pleading Pakistan’s case to seek economic support”, Mukhtar said in an interview yesterday with with Aaj TV channel.

The government, he said, is ready to work with Musharraf as he has a broader vision and good ties with other countries.

Working with Musharraf will be in the better interest of Pakistan and the government could secure international aid and support if it followed policies laid down by the President, he said.

Reacting to Mukhtar’s comments, PML-N leader and Youth Affairs and Culture Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique on Friday said, “Mukhtar’s views on President Musharraf (were made) in his personal capacity (but) we are totally convinced that Musharraf and Pakistan can’t go together.”

The government’s media managers reportedly contacted several newspapers and agencies to ask them not to carry Mukhtar’s comments though they appeared in several newspapers on Friday. Sharif, who was deposed from the post of prime minister by Musharraf in 1999, is vehemently opposed to the former military ruler and has repeatedly asked him to accept the people’s mandate and step down as President. PML-N leaders wore black arm bands when they were sworn in.

:yahoo::yahoo::pakistan:
hope every thing settles down for Musharraf.. and good for pakistan!

The policies set by Musharraf must continue! Our bribed media and idiot politicians need someone like a feudal Zardari to counter them and knock senses into!

The vision of Musharaf was to strengthen the Economy, eliminate extremisn from our provinces like NWFP & Balochistan, and develop the military might and better lifestyle & infrastructure of our public.

His pro-pakistan policies have turned around the 1999 stagnated economy of $75 billion to boom by 100% and become an economy of $160 billion and progressing!

The GDP purchasing Power parity of our economy is much better improved by 100% to become $500, and our GDP income is $980.

The military might (to counter regional adventurers) is much better:

1. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has achieved a landmark in the development of its Airborne Early Warning and Capability (AEWC) Program with the unveiling of its first Saab 2000 AEWC aircraft in a ceremony at the Saab facility in Sweden, the PAF said in a statement on 4 April 2008.

2. Pakistan has started formal manufacturing of JF-17 Thunder Jets in Pakistan

3. Dec 2007: Some of the Military hardware Pakistan has received recently:

a- YLC-6 (10 Qty) Air surveillance radar from China
b- AS-350B-3 version (10 Qty) from France
c- MTU-538 Diesel engine (4 Qty) for Jalat FAC from Germany
d- Luna UAV (4 Qty) systems from Germany
e- Falco UAV (4 Qty) systems from Italy
f- Type-43 ASW torpedo (25 Qty) from Sweden
g- 6V-53 Diesel engine (AV) (20 Qty) for Talha APC and Al Qaswa ALV from USA.

4. Nov 27 2007: Pakistan Navy Ship Zarrar, the first of Multi Role Tactical Platform (MRTP-33), was commissioned into Pakistan Navy at an impressive ceremony here at PN Dockyard. The Attack craft acquired from Turkey is planned to be fitted with requisite guns and missiles commensurate with its role of coastal defence/offensive operation.

5. Jan 2007: The United States has handed over the first of eight P-3 Orion reconnaissance and anti-submarine aircraft to Pakistan, the navy said. Washington agreed in late 2005 to supply $970 million worth planes to Pakistan. The four-engined Lockheed P-3 Orion is a highly maneuverable, all-weather aircraft primarily designed for reconnaissance, anti-submarine and anti-surface vessel operations.

6. October 2006, the construction of the first F22P FFG was started at Shanghai Hudong Shipyard. The first F22P FFG would take 4 years to finish, and the initial three F22P FFGS would be built at Shanghai Hudong Shipyard.

Awesome News!! Best i've heard for pakistan in a long while!!

:pakistan::victory::woot:

The rift between PML-N and ppp has already begun. PML-N and ANP are forming one bloc and PPP and MQM another.

Musharaf Palyed the MQM Card on the rite time!

When the time comes we will see PPP, MQM and PML Q, in the same tent!

dont get your hopes up too high - this is a smoke-screen - the parliament is ready to strip the president of all powers (52-2b, appoint governors, appoint chiefs of the armed forces,appoint judges of the SC, call for governor rule etc). the president will then be a titular head like in india. does anyone really think that musharraf will stay under these conditions? thats right NO WAY.

is there any prove?

I am not agree with you. PPP & ANP forms the Govt. in Sarhad, PPP & PML-N in Punjab. If they form groups then it will be devastating for Pakistan and PPP too. Majority of PPP Workers don't like to shake hands with MQM.

SO if PPP chairman joins hand with MQM and leave PML-N then PPP will loose the Govt. soon
