What's new

AL's strategy of intimidation may no longer be working

Yes, unless you can point out the exact support they received from the government.

It's funny that you are only talking about Walton's success and praising the government. You know what happened to Walton's motorcycle manufacturing? Few years back they were making great progress and had some market share. They were asking the government for protection against Indian motorcycle imports but got refused. Years down the line, Walton started losing its market share and ultimately had to shut its motorcycle manufacturing. It's the same reason why Walton has not invested in car manufacturing yet

Although I'm against any kind of protective measures in trade but Walton's plea had some justification. Indian motorcycle brands indeed had some undue advantage wrt branding and promotion as Indian media channels have an easy access to Bangladesh while Bangladeshi media does not. Even Munni Saha raised the matter to Dipu Moni in an interview. And I do remember Indian motorcycle brands have an extensive marketing campaign through Indian media.

That is a good point.

Well!

There is a cost to getting India to finally agree to a land boundary.

I know our arm chair generals want to stand up to India. But that way lies Pakistan.

Walton can now focus on the future - electric bikes.

And start exporting their consumer goods to India.

.
I am not going to spoon feed you as you need to do your own research.

BD has been gradually reducing tariffs and it is no great loss if Walton lost it's market share in motorcycles as it may be spreading itself too thin. Walton is doing excellently in consumer electronics and needs to focus on doing a few things very well.

It's not about Walton, you have failed to point out if government is providing any support to the local manufacturers. While as I see, there is a clear policy of the government to not disturb major Indian exports to Bangladesh. The same reason why the expansion project of Eastern Oil Refinery has been stalled for around 12 years now and investment proposals for new oil refineries are not approved.

The government has an agenda to appease its patrons and that's why we need checks and balances.

You must have missed my thread recently where BD exports to India in first 3 months of this fiscal were up over 60% from the same period last year.

BD and India are close economic partners as both realise that they need each other to develop.

India will only hamper it's own economic development by trying to limit BD. There is everything for them to lose and nothing to gain.

And what about Indian exports to Bangladesh?

This is not about India or walton. You are clearly missing the point or deliberately trying to go off topic.

.
Err, it does not work in a still largely poor and illiterate population.

BD in 2022 is not ready for democracy, especially in these difficult economic times when any charlatan can promise them the world.

Let BD think about democracy in 2030 as now is still too early.

Ok sure BD can not have democracy because BAL can not win a fair fight. LOL

. .
And what about Indian exports to Bangladesh?

That has also gone up!

Our raison d’etre cannot be to be a thorn on India’s side.

That job has been assigned to Pakistan.

Our job is to create millions of jobs for our unskilled semi literate masses.

That can only be done by trading with India and getting China to build the required infrastructure.

All other options were exhausted by Ershad, Major Zia and Begum Zia.

It was a failure!!!

I know you think we can manufacture cars and motor bikes that can compete with India!

But we cannot!

We cannot even build simple bridges without outside consultants.

If you want to chest thump then get into Ivy League and Russell Group unis!!!

AND LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH!!!

Read the economist and learn how Sylheti kids caught up with white brits and on course to top Indians in a decade.

The AL fanboys are just regurgitating AL statements that you can watch on YouTube.

I was watching the esteemed planning minister on YouTube where he was arguing that corruption is a direct result of the size of economy and it is too complicated for an average person to understand it !

That got me thinking, something like I read that on PDF !

I know it sounds terrible but we do need BAL to continue until there is a credible opposition in place who can take the country further.
A "fair" election at this stage would be meaningless as the constituency is too poorly educated and emotional to understand the long term ramifications of a takeover by an incompetent regime.
There is also the risk of unhinged religious fundamentalist groups taking over by banking on people's emotions - this would be the end of Bangladesh as we know it.

Let us be patient for another decade. A more competent political group would eventually rise and take on the mantle of development. I too would love a regime which prioritises economic development without corruption, dishonesty (fudging stats, etc.) or sucking up to India but there is no option on the table right now.

.
Nope, as I have my own brain and can work out how things work. Don't need someone else to do my thinking for me.
All imbeciles think they have brains like that of Einstein and they can think like him. Can we stop him from thinking this way?

Anyway, your BAL party will be thrown into the dustbin of history. Never to rise again to torment our people.

Your right to vote, how you vote, or who you choose to vote has very little to do with your education.
In 1970 people voted for East Pakistan candidates, so if people could vote right candidates in 1970 why it seems impossible these days ?

If you can not trust your people to vote for you then you have no business leading the country.

All these argument is just gibberish. No political party has any inherent right to rule through violence.

Democracy simply doesn’t work when your population is at best semi literate.

Every time you lot type a sentence you prove the above point!

No country has ever developed through democracy!

Btw, Pak generals should have focussed on development instead of a “free and fair” election.

Then Pakistan would still be intact. And the Dhakaya semi literate mob would be boxed.

Imagine if the Chinese communist party focused on democracy instead of development. China would now be in pieces.

Best to just ignore these half-literates who are missing half a brain it seems.

They have no idea what they are talking about as this stuff is way above their level.

If one of them ever read, rather than watch youtube clips, for knowledge I would very surprised!

It seems Dhakaya ladies watch saas-bahu Indian serials whilst their husbands pleasure themselves over Hindu Pinaki videos 🤣😂😂

And then they claim to be Indo sceptics 🤣😂😂😂😂😂

I ain’t buying their snake oil!!!
