Seriously though, someone need to be punished, I cannot even imagine how this could be an accidental shot down, the plane literally just take off from an Iranian Airport, there must be constant communication between the plane and the ATC in Iran, there are no way they will see it as an unknown bogey, either aircraft take off without talking to Iranian ATC, or Iranian ATC was not connected to the Military Network, or someone behind the button gets trigger happy, I don't see how this could be an accidental shot down, unless it was the one of the monumental cork up I mentioned...

This is very sad and unprofessional of Iranian armed forces. A year ago Pakistan was in the same predicament where India intentionally sent a civilian airplane with a military call sign so that Pakistan would shot it down and we had every right to do so because we were in a state of war yet when the Air Control Tower notified Pakistan air force, we intercepted the flight instead of shooting it down only to find out its a civilian jet belonging to Spice Jet and we escorted it out thus saving over a hundred life. In Iran's case the airplane was taking off from Iranian airport than how come a) A civilian jet was allowed to takeoff in such heightened situation and b) why was the Iranian air force and Air defense not aware? These are some serious questions that Iran would have to ask itself and raises serious questions about the capability of Iranian systems specially in identifying between civilian and hostile air crafts.
