What's new

All aboard: ‘Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus almost complete’

but city cannot thrive without metro..
Punjab is doing a lot for education as well. Remember laptop scheme? Everyone was against it. Meanwhile in the west many students are shifting to laptops. Basically anything Punjab gov't do = bad.

@cb4 any news on KPK metro train? I heared they drop it, China doesn't want to give investment money to Imran backed gov't. So any news on metro bus or they can't do that either?

Its amazing. Punjab government has introduced more computerized systems than the rest of the country. From emergency management, to police dispatch, to hospitals, to education and now they are going towards tablets. This is great. Today's growth in a country's economy and jobs, depends heavily on technology.

KPK won't start a real metro project. For that, you need loans or international investments. KPK doesn't have the ability to get either. The State never really cred to establish relationships with the World bank, the IMF or with investors so they would get these investments. The KPK state doesn't have any credit rating so no one will trust it. On the other hand, Punjab has been doing extremely well with credit ratings, well balanced investment and returns so far and constant growth through some serious efforts around infrastructure and educational projects.

Ohhh you tell us please about some useful projects...we shall be enlightened...!!
ohh check your self and check resources of your country & then have an eye on highly developed countries like Germany.

Beggars sitting on gold !

and for this project, they could have easily completed a tram track. I have seen this metro in Lahore. There is not even space to stand in these damn buses. They should run on normal roads as they do in all over EU. They come on time and depart on time. Not even a minute delay.
Here beggars are happy that they have made tracks to facilitate Itefaq foundry iron and cement of Mian Mansha. Buses have no arrival & departure times, even on specialized tracks. wow cheers u have now a metro track.

Will only help if ppl who use cars to get to offices start using this
Plus a big percentage of public transport in ISB covers the ISB highway and this project doesnot cover that

What stops government from going for a metro rail project ?

What stops government from going for a metro rail project ?
We can't afford it easily.

Also our people are too poor to afford a full amount of rail ticket that they should pay otherwise. When metro train is made, they need to recover billions of dollars to pay back the loans they used to build it etc.

This type of project is inspired from Istanbul and Bogota and tell you what once you look at the one from Islamabad it looks a lot better

Costly + how will you run a Train when you are facing Load shedding ?? well these tracks can be easily converted to Metro Train/ Light rail the basic structure is there just have to lay the tracks...

A guy here is telling he saw Lahore Metro there isn't any space in the Bus to stand we answer is when Shahbaz Shareef inaugurated Metro Bus in Lahore everyone said this project is a failed Project no one will travel in it but now they Ordered 26 more buses last Month and extending Lahore Metro to more 5.8 kilometer... You can add more buses if needed anytime... if still it's over crowded you can lay the tracks and Start light rail... And the Next Project is a Light Rail Project in Lahore also known as Orange Line Metro...

Easy, do nothing (kpk)

They should start using advertising on the buses to generate more revenue. Use it on stations as well.

Great comment, haha. Another useful project is to make a 70 year old nepotistic buddha the chief minister, who misses all the foreign trips that other CMs take.

The Istambul one is the best.

In India, We prefer Metro Rail rather than Metro Bus or BRT

The reason being Metro trains run on either elevated Tracks or under ground tracks. BRT runs roads, which causes jams and congestions

bro can you tell that area of double road RWP is in this project or not

I think, in Pakistan Metro Rail would run in loss considering the current size of economy so thats why Metro Bus, which is understandable.
