Zionism can not oppose those who call themselves Palestinians because Zionism died in 1948 when it realized itself, and there were no "Palestinians" (in today's definition) that Zionism could have been against.
All the leaders of the Zionist movement advocated living together with all the Arabs. They did not advocate their deportation, nor their extermination.
To be a (neo)Zionist is to recognize the "Palestinians" because (neo)Zionism is a European movement that aligns with Europe, and in Europe they recognize the "Palestinians" and therefore (neo)Zionism will recognize them as well.
Your confusion stems from the fact that you think that Zionism is anti-Palestinian.
