Not Indian Kashmir, although my Grandfather's side of the family came from there. I've seen Swat, Hunza, Baltistan, and Gilgit.

Hears SWAT Valley is a very nice place however due to the nasty insurgents and near Afghanistan maybe when it is more peaceful.

It sounds very nice however I'd stay away from places near the Afghan border and the Tribal Area's you have heard of Tourists and Aid Workers getting kidnapped. I think you should just visit China then Pakistan.

I'm not going on this trip although I've love to. Next summer I'll go with them on a bike trip from Chengdu to Lhasa, along G318, the most dangerous highway in the world.

I really wonder if Karakorum Highway is dangerous for foreigner. Any input from our Pakistani friends?

Personally I'd Stay away from Pakistan for a while until it becomes Stable and Anti Americanism calms, I think even Iran is better option then Pakistan, however China is very nice place ,in the West of it Xinjiang and Tibet I hear are very good sites. Personally you should try to Visit Aksai Chin and Indian Kashmir .

It can be dangerous for everyone due to rock slides, but other than that you have nothing to worry about. Swat is pretty calm these days as well, but beyond Swat no terrorism or militants whatsoever, very kind and peaceful people.

someday i want to retire and live in Kashmir valley in summer and cycle through Swat,Parvati, during the winter the Parvati valley is also comparable to the Swat valley because they both have great weed , the swat valley to the Chitral region of Pakistan is known for its heavy purple indica plants and Parvati is known for its amazing hand made hashish known as charas)

I hear hashish grows naturally in kashmir north areas of pakistan, and parts of tibet heck even OBL had it growing outside his compound personally just smoking it in an open field is heaven to me.

the mountain peoples of HP who resemble Asians like Japanese and Korean people spend 7-8 hours a day to make Charas which is hand made hashish btw if you end up going to HP don't let locals try and swindle you never pay more than 1500rs for a kilo of Charas its very inexpensive if you just ask for a little bit of charas most of the time locals will give you some for free
