What's new

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

CATS 59kg
Sarper 80kg
Satcom 22kg
sarper radar radom 20kg so sarper radar system 100kg total,we dont know satcom radom weight lets guess its 20kg.So 100kg sarper 45kg satcom 59kg cats add 30 kg cables total payload is arond 280-300kg.
Turkish navy will have 12 Anka-B with sarper MMR radar but will not use aselsan cats in future,navy chosed MX-15 flir system and could not get star saphire 280 due to itar restrictions,at the moment is testing 2 anka B without sarper radar.First filo will be operated from dalaman but second filos place is not clear,,,,defence turkey magazine latest edition
I thing anka with our domestic motor P170 can carry satcom,flir and sarper payload without reducing mission capability could be named Anka-D(deniz)or Anka-N(navy) whatever it should be renamed.Anka-B can fly 24 hr at 20000 feet or 18 hr at 30000 feet,250km combat radius,thanks to added gasoline volume in anka-B.
Powered Anka with two P170 motor can carry more payloads as such sonobouys,link 11,16,22,lightweight torpedos,missiles etc

Anka carrying sonobouys, Torpedos, and Sarper radar will have hugeee sale in SOuth east Asia and everybody afraid of Chinese submarines...
Turkey can also test it against Greece... it will also be way cheaper to operate instead of those big jets.

Wow, what model is that?

Could it be?

Brings this to mind, however looks bigger than an ordinary MALE class UAV.

Pretty sure it's a Beluga Whale :)

a mockup or actual fuselage ?

Looks like a mockup that will probably go through wind tunnel tests, if it is AKINCI UCAV we won't see first flight till 2020 anyway..

It looks very similar to the previously shared photo. Welcome big boy:-)

Allright, so lets take this claim;

as real. Two TS-1400 turboprop engines, isn't this a little bit overpowered for 4.5t max take off unmanned vehicle that aims to operate 40k feet altitute for 24h?

To compare, here is MQ-9 Reaper;
MTOW 4.8tonnes
max altitute 50.000feet
engine 900hp turboprop o_O

if 2 TS-1400s will be used on that, i bet that won't be 4.5 tonnes as Yusuf claims, but maybe 10+ tonnes o_O

That engine will be the core of many variants as turboprop and turbofan with different power outputs.

they saying that Akinci will have AESA radar , could that mean AESA Synthetic aperture radar for ground mapping and observation and not for Air to Air applications ?
