Airtel launches 4G on mobiles at same price as 3G!!

yes, first 500mb for 4g, it cost about 22 usd. Another $20 divided by 5 people is not expensive.

No, AFAIK it's $20 for a single. Correct me if i'm wrong? And the base price is $110 for 5 connections, including taxes it comes around $25.

In Kolkata Airtel is charging rs.999 for 10gb on 4G dongles.

Cool. Sri Lankan operators must have got the bandwidth for cheap. Good for you.

Packages may get reduce more or they will increase the GB volume per month in this year, I think we can get VDSL2 packages (Up to 100Mbps) for home users from SLT soon.

10 GB for 1500 Indian rupees?

$1=INR 62.33, so 1500 INR = $24, cheaper than Chinese Telecom, 10G = 280 RMB, FYI $1=¥6.

It seems T-mobile is the cheapest, a family plan of 5 people means $26 per month per person with unlimited phone call, unlimited message, unlimited 4G LTE data, btw all the services can be used worldwide.

India has the cheapest telecom services offerings across the globe! IT and Telecommunications is the only sector which was spared by the sheer incompetence of our current government :coffee:

How about the download speed?

At the preliminary stage the 4G downloading speed in India will be 1.5 to 7 Mbps (4G) and 4G LTE 7 to 15 Mbps...

May bad, well my friend using Tmobile told me this. I'm using AT&T, it's almost $40 plus tax with unlimited talk, text and 2.5G 4G.

15 gb for 1500 for 4g is a rip off, you'll use it up fast.

Airtel launches 4G on mobiles at same price as 3G - The Times of India

BANGALORE: Airtel has launched 4G on mobiles, thus becoming the first in India to offer such a service. It has been launched in Bangalore first, and the plan is to take it to other cities soon.
The 4G offering, which promises to enable you to watch high-definition video without buffering and download full-length movies on to your mobiles in about three minutes, will come at the same price as the 3G service.
But for now, the service will only work on iPhone 5S and 5C. That is because those are the only devices available in India that support the 2300 MHz frequency band on which 4G is being offered.
"We expect more devices will soon come enabled for this band. China has just allocated 4G spectrum in the 2300 MHz band to its operators, so there should be a lot more manufacturing of such devices," Srini Gopalan, director of consumer business in Bharti AirtelIndia, said.
In the on-going round of spectrum allocations in India, 4G is also being allocated in the 1800 MHz band. But the actual offerings by operators on this band may take a while.
Airtel had previously launched 4G through dongles and modems in four cities. The company has close to 9.5 million 3G customers in India and with 4G being offered at the same price, there should be a large-scale shift once devices come equipped with the necessary band.
For Rs 1,500, a postpaid customer can upload/download 10 GB of data in 30 days. There are other offerings at lower prices. "4G speeds are 10-15 times more than 3G speeds," Gopalan said.
Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio Infocomm is preparing for a big-bang launch of 4G services, but no dates have been announced so far. It's expected to come with live television and video-on-demand on 4G, and a host of other services such as music streaming, video calling and payment services.
With 4G wi-fi, you can tether multiple devices at home to the same network and still get phenomenal speeds in all.

Airtel 4g service may not successful as thr intracity fiber laid in 2004 n in poor conditions same soft launching failed in pune n mumbai...... new fiber rollout targeted in next 2 or 3 mnths...........
Rjil has big plans for 4g n mukesh ambani has invested huge amount to create pan india base fiber network which will not be ready atleast in 2014.... thats y mukesh ambani has signed mou for 4g back bone network with Bharti Airtel n Rcom of anil ambani......

it's only for iphone users.......
so, don't get pumped up.....:D:D

Id be happy with 3g as long as it has no cap and unlimited monthly package. Who actually watches hd movies on a phone? it never made any sense.

But why? I cant keep my phone charged all day as it is .. who are these people who want to use their phone as a modem? I can understand if you get out the city or traveling, in which case its kind of hard getting even gprs signals.

3g speed is not good enough for browsing sometimes, when you are browing on phone(on the move) you want it to be lightening fast.
here only 2 operators have 4g coverage till now .. :(

3g is supposedly 150kb/s with upload hovering around 50kb/s. These are damningly average numbers .. Actual US 3g runs over 200-500kb/s down and around 200kb/s up. Would I be happy and could I browse comfortably with 150kb/s? Damn straight. It all depends on the latency with which I get the 150kb/s. If ping is low, I will be a happy camper.
