It was not like the lady was being asked to discard the veil forever. She was asked to raise it for the sake of national identification.

Anyway, covering faces is the easiest way to conduct some anti-social activity and escape. As seen in Syria, the veil is a convenient escape disguise for wanted militants and threats. This is not because it is Islamic but because:

1- It is a loose veil with no contours visible. Which means a lean terrorist could wear it and run away using the garb of a 'mute conservative woman'.

2- Eyes alone are no form of identification unless of course countries can make iris scan mandatory.

Small IEDs and weapons can be easily concealed under the veil.

What harm is there if a female security officer identified and even searched the women for any weapons? You have to respect lawful culture. If Islam is not banned in your country or in Europe then you have to respect the culture and religion of Islam unless any specific aspects of the religion or culture is a threat to your national security. That is the internationally accepted norm. Your strawman argument is really quite insensitive beyond belief. You seem to believe that all Muslims are out to strap a bomb to their asses just to blow up your society and everybody who you love. I can assure you that is not the position. These two women whom you seem to hate so intensely also have families. Imagine if your mom or sister traveled to a foreign land and were asked to strip naked in the presence of a few male security officers "for security reasons". Now that is the effect of asking these women to remove their niqab in the presence of unknown men. It effectively strips them of their dignity. Had they refused to comply in the presence of female security officers, I am certain that every Muslim on this forum would have supported their refusal of entry. To answer your question, no one of my family would step a foot in ay islamic country. I disagree with the customs there and i dont see why i should go there and provocate and my family sees this the same way.
