Seeing as how neither India or Pakistan existed before the partition, the history of Maharaja Ranjit Singh only belongs to the history of the Sikh Empire and general Sikh history. The only other thing you could argue is that the history of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is part of the general sub-continent history.

There's also many others. A diamond that is 5,000 years old and has only been recorded since the last 400 years could have been found/mined anywhere.
