AI and robots threaten to unleash mass unemployment, scientists warn

In 20 years time. The road and airplane will be filling with totally autonomous AI guided by GPS. Taxi driven by robots will be safer. They have no emotion so no road rage and they don't need thrill to need to speed. No drunk driver that killed innocent bypasser crossing roads.

yep!
They won't get tired, bored, or demand better compensation. They'll happily work the night shift and be on the road 365 days a year. Can't be bribed, won't pilfer things, and don't get distracted.

And they won't quit and take another job.

what we have is a overpopulation problem. too many low skilled workers and that's what robots are going to replace.

I can see something happening something big where a few billion die.

be it some super plague or war.

People dying of pandemics?

2009 swine flu - 18500 deaths
2014 Ebola virus - 11,315 deaths

People dying due to wars?

Iraq war - 150,000
Afghan war - 100,000

It impossible for a single type of event to offset the population growth. It would have to be a combination

1) Diseases
2) Wars
3) family planning (sterilization)
4) forced policies (like one child policy)
5) liberalization of LGBT laws
6) Increasing cost of medicines
7) Support feminism
8) Support living together
9) Liberal Divorce laws
10) Support life style that prevents breast feeding of babies
11) Popularize junks food to decrease life expectancy

I have always maintained, earth is too small to maintain a human population beyond 1 billion.

Well as per this news the target of NWO is 500 Million People. :D

I thought Skull and Bones was part f NWO

From 7 Billion People To 500 Million People – The Sick Population Control Agenda Of The Global Elite » Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

500 million will be optimum for the health of this planet. But I'm a little lenient.
how about you nuke china.we nuke you china nuke you back you nuke us back. there goes about 3 billion people. population problem almost solve
bonus while at it we can also fire few stray nuke at Indonesia and Bangladesh for maximum result and minimum damage to earth as all of above countries are densely packed while don't have relatively huge area.

Radioactivity is not conducive for general flora and fauna of the ecosystem, it has to specie specific annihilation.

yeah but the impact vs results will be justifiable or we could always implement vasectomy law so it would be mandatory to have vasectomy after birth of your first child.child birth certificate and guardian ship will not be issued unless a vasectomy prove is presented to the hospital medical staff.

Won't there still be jobs that require human judgement? I don't think humans will ever be completely out of jobs especially the intelligent and the creative.

When computers were first introduced into the workplace, so many trade unions were against them because it was perceived wisdom that jobs would be lost. But in fact computers created jobs and people work even longer hours today than they did a generation ago. Our dad's generation used to come home for lunch, Most of us end up grabbing a bite on the run. Our dad's generation used to chat with the driver or read the newspaper on their way to work, We often take conference calls. All this technology has actually made us busier and work longer hours. And a lot of completely new jobs that we never imagined before has been created.

I think the best we can hope is reduced hours - maybe a three or four day week for most people and increased productivity.

The worst is that people with some skill sets work very hard and others with less education or skills are on the permanent unemployment line. This would affect the developing world which is lower in skills more than the developed world. Some types of industries like garment making would leave the third world and go back to the developed world.

If you go by past history every time there has been a major technological leap , we Invariably assumed we would all be out of work but what seems to always happen is that somehow we end up with even more work.

It will be interesting to see what actually happens.

Well , the world has 2 major problem the population is increasing at a rate which cannot sustain itself , and jobs are decreasing at rapid rate because corporations want to make profit and use Robotics

The only way new jobs will be created is if a space city is created on Mars or Moon base which would create lot of jobs in Engineering / civil engineering/ Electrical work / Farming etc
