While it is true that our pro-China faction is deluding itself (can't say same about higher echelons of power), but this is not a show of stellar diplomacy by Chinese. Throwing insults in inter-governmental relations ,even when you are not at good terms with that government, is a stupid diplomatic move.

Exactly my thoughts.Higher echelons of power in both USA and India believe any diplomatic move of China is part of a larger Grand Strategy. However throwing such insults and aggressive posture in SCS and Senkaku dispute seem to grave-digging move.

Yes to certain extent China did checkmate India and US; But for how long. It is given that in another 20 years US, China and India will be three largest economies. China cannot keep using proxies to checkmate India and US without loosing its self interest. What happens if Koreans reunite or relations between India and Pakistan improve.

I feel this whole thing in Global Times shows the Chinese frustration that it cannot force India to a solution nor make India agree to a Chinese vision of Asia. I bet the odd are not in Chinese favor if Chinese continue with the same strategy. But the next decade will be interesting on how the world and Asia will evolve and lot depends on how India will evolve both in economic and military terms.

It is the US which checkmated India, not China. China was just the unsuspecting beneficiary. We chose the wrong side during the cold war.

Checkmated India from doing what ? What did the Chinese think India was going to do ?

India split Pakistan in Two, created BD and still China did nothing. US tried to do something, not china.

China supply lines via India ocean is unsafe and remains vulnerable. Has Chinese diplomacy made it any safer ?

Instead China was forced to invest money in an unstable pakistan and develop gawdar port and is spending billions in developing road and rail lines in pakistan to transport goods to china via pak.

If India was a friend to china, India would have done that for free. ....... Now consider if this was a diplomatic victory or defeat..

You are looking at it all wrong, the Chinese have an interest in being top dog here in Asia. Locking India in a perpetual conflict with Pakistan helps them achieve that goal. Pakistan on its own would never have been able to sustain a prolonged confrontation with India and would have eventually come to terms or sued for peace. Chinese assistance (insignificant in overall Chinese defence outlay) to Pakistan is what keeps it going. You ask what if they were friends with India, the key here is that it is the Indians asking that, the Chinese simply are not interested. They want subservience, not the friendship of equals. This behaviour works for them.

Whether North Koreans like the Chinese or not is irrelevant, the Chinese don't much care for the "liking". What they want is for their purposes to be served with whatever tools necessary. Their dislike of the Japanese is long & persistent & no matter how high the trade (something that many Indians pushing for better trade relations should remember), their hatred has shown no let up.

Their biggest mistake was with the SCS aggression, it made a lot of the smaller countries to fall back into the U.S. camp. However India has not learnt much, dilly-dallying with the U.S. but also trying to be mindful of Chinese feelings, something China repeatedly shows it doesn't care about with their relations with Pakistan. A skewed trade imbalance & frequent border incursions have been our only rewards for our pussyfooting.

The Chinese will do what they want to in pursuance of their national interests, we should be equally ruthless in doing the same.

I'm glad that this article was written. We have plenty of muddle headedness which appears time to time about India-china relations. Always good to know what the other side thinks, especially when they are willing to put it in articles like this.

The article itself is devoid of anything of importance but the underlying mentality isn't.

Somehow the past is easily forgotten. Their leaders have called India 'dirty and filthy' just a few years ago to the US. I don't know if this should come as a big surprise to us.

India has agreed to Chinese rule. Only with China's approval did India join BRICS, AIIB and eventually the SCO

India will never be able to close the power gap with China. China will keep extending the lead over India in all areas.

Indians don't have the intellectual capacity to cash the checks their mouths are writing. This is why in economy China has beaten India. In military China has beaten India. In technology China has beaten India. Financially China has beaten India. Diplomatically China has beaten India. In war China has beaten India and stripped the dignity of the Indian military. In sports China has beaten India.

As human beings, Chinese have defeated Indians both physically and intellectually.
