After Modi's yesterdays admission that no Chinese crossed in to Indian territory and no Indian posts were over run. Which means that the incident took place in Chinese territory and the Indians were the attackers in Chinese territory.

Now Indians realising the implications of such statements by Modi, are backtracking.

Government clarifies: PM meant there are no Chinese on our side now
Government adds that any attempts to transgress the Line of Actual Control would be dealt very firmly.

The government of India on Saturday issued a clarification to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement denying Chinese intruders on the Indian side of LAC, stating that his statement "pertained to the situation following bravery of armed forces", referring to the deaths of 20 soldiers in the Galwan Valley skirmish with China.

The focus of the PM's remarks at all-party meeting was the events at Galwan that led to loss of lives of 20 soldiers, the government statement said, adding that any attempts to transgress the Line of Actual Control would be dealt very firmly.

"The words of the PM that those who tried to transgress were taught befitting lesson by our brave sons succinctly summed up ethos of armed forces," the government clarified.

Further, the government hailed the Indian Army, saying that the sacrifices of soldiers foiled the attempt of Chinese side to erect structures and "cleared attempted transgression in Galwan on June 15".

The clarification comes just hours after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi charged Modi with surrendering Indian territory to China.

Tagging PM's remarks with his tweet, Gandhi said, "PM has surrendered Indian territory to Chinese aggression." "If the land was Chinese: 1. Why were our soldiers killed? 2. Where were they killed?" Gandhi said.

The government statement also noted that "unnecessary controversy" was being created and "mischievous interpretations" were being assigned to PM's remarks, hinting at the criticism coming from the Opposition quarters.

As I said yesterday, the Modi's statement is going to open a can of worm for India.
Indians are now trying to recover. But the are already made themselves a laughing stock.

Yoohoo @silent_poison

Modi's office is now on Jayshanker's side.

Of course, this means that the Chinese still occupy Indian land (scenario b in my last message). It is a fact that Indian forces were routed from the battlefield and failed to dislodge any Chinese groups or their structures.

Notwithstanding that real-time dilemma India now confirms it is in, Modi's incompetence is truly beyond doubt now.

I don't believe it is still is. His video is quite clear. He said there are no Chinese on Indian territory. Means he has effectively given up claims on territory that China now possesses.

It is very clear that Modi has ceded the Galwan valley to China. The billion dollar question is if this is the end or just the beginning. I would bet that China is going to take over the whole of Ladakh.

Yaar why you giving a restless night to silent poison? He’s already on a pacemaker with the events of the last 72 hours.
Indians actually believe their own hype of being some mega power world beater and a vibrant proud nation -
This escapade has clearly shown they are anything but this. A nation that ought to be ashamed of its antics. A nation that ought to be ashamed of its leaders. A nation that has lost masses of land and life - and now attempting to save face. Too late the world knows you ain’t no lion - your a little donkey

Technically Indians think that whole aksai chin is Indian, so it means the road construction, deployment of PLA on east of LAC, etc all are legit? @Joe Shearer

Well, technically, but as many Indians know, first, the Aksai Chin region was included in J&K due to a crooked British geographer named Johnson, who profoundly impressed the then Maharaja with how powerful the Maharaja really was. That delineation that you see on Indian maps is the Johnson Line (the rogue's name was Johnson). The British themselves set the line back where it belonged, without Aksai Chin, through the instrumentality of one of their top administrators, a man named McDonald. That was the proper line, that the Chinese might well have agreed to (they didn't, so the British wrote to them saying that they considered silence to be assent).

Nehru did something quite shockingly unethical; he ordered the ministry to dump the McDonald line maps and re-draw it as the Johnson Line showed.

What you are saying is, or should be - the road construction, deployment of PLA on the east of the LAC, etc., are all NOT legit.

Not all the rules of the British Colonial English grammar now can explain it enough....

Don't worry about it; you are not the one to talk about grammar. Not English grammar. Pidgin Turkish grammar, maybe.
