Facts are facts. I believe that integrity depends on narrating the exact facts.

I admire Nehru for much of what he did to set Indian democracy in place. However, he did such awful things in other spheres that admiration for him must be qualified. Sad.

I wonder if Modi's statement now means that India has given up on territorial claims that it does not control?

In a way, it is an acknowledgement of the current situation and a signal that India does not desire to enforce its claims.

India might as well take any territory it claims held by China off its maps. It also implies the 20 indian soldiers that died, did so in vain. A demoralizing stance for the generations of Indian soldiers that have manned a post or patrolled that region.

Modi seems to be cutting his losses and giving into China to be able to continue his policies over the rest territory Indian controls (IOK), but the Chinese don’t seem to be accepting that and want a reversal of the abrogation of 370 and 35A at a minimum; I.e. political suicide by Modi.

All he has left is making the Indian military parade around on the roads and skies of Ladakh to “show resolve” (for his domestic audience) and hope for foreign support. China will be smart to stay below any threshold to be painted an aggressor.

unless Modi makes a statement reversing his statement, any backtracking by any other Indian official won’t be able to “clarify” what he said

Modi and India are in no position to confront China. They are trying to show a bold face to their people but are begging Chinese behind the scene.

How about some serious respect? Today I made Chow Mein, and then - hang on to your hats - Gobi Manchurian.

What's Manchurian? Right, welcome to the world of Indian Chinese (the kind that Minister Athavale wants us to give up). How exactly are you going to cut ties with a country that offers Chow Mein as street food?

Why not let Prime Minister Modi explain it himself? I don’t think he appreciates people putting words in his mouth.

Well, technically, but as many Indians know, first, the Aksai Chin region was included in J&K due to a crooked British geographer named Johnson, who profoundly impressed the then Maharaja with how powerful the Maharaja really was. That delineation that you see on Indian maps is the Johnson Line
I know that. but when PM says that no chinese is on indian soil. I know he means that on west of LAC but why give a vague/general statement. Bcz technically Chinese are on indian soil, at least for Dehli's poView.

Have a heart.

He has to find a way out of the corner that he has painted himself into.

That'd be fine, if he hadn't dragged the country into the corner with him.

Right from that brahmin Nehru to brahminical Modi every indian leader is savage aggressor of neighbours land.

Yes, it is rather limiting. It leaves the non-Brahmin to be aggressive on PDF. Never mind, in your next janma, you might get to be a brahmin and get to invade Togo. The Gambia?

Incidentally, Modi doesn't get to be close to brahmins, in any way; not even by being described as 'brahminical'.

It isn't clever to use words, expressions and concepts one is not familiar with. Just shows desperation to make an impact. :D
