Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his election on the coveted post and expressed optimism that the appointment will strengthen ties between the two countries.

"President Putin expressed hope that Shehbaz Sharif's activities will contribute to further development of Russia-Pakistan cooperation and partner interaction on Afghan settlement, countering international terrorism," the Russian embassy in Islamabad quoted him as saying said in a tweet.

A day earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were the first leaders to congratulate the newly-elected premier.

President Erdogan had telephoned Shehbaz while Modi tweeted, congratulating the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president for becoming the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.

According to the PML-N’s media wing, the Turkish President told Shehbaz that he was “delighted” over his election as the prime minister. The Sharifs have a personal relationship with Erdogan, who was also the first foreign leader to call Imran Khan, when he was elected as the prime minister in August 2018.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Modi had wasted no time and facilitated the prime minister on Twitter. “Congratulations to H.E. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. India desires peace and stability in a region free of terror, so that we can focus on our development challenges and ensure the well-being and prosperity of our people.”

On Monday, Shehbaz was elected as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan, marking his return to power as premier as a pinnacle of his relentless efforts against the former government.

The PML-N clinched the coveted post after 174 lawmakers voted in his favour as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNAs boycotted the election.

Putin as a smart leader knew he is replaced as a pawn of the US to replace the old pro-Russia Imran Khan. But he is giving his best chance to give Pak Russia relations another shot.
But this haram khor showbaz sharif will only obey to his master US that brought him to power.

. . . . .
The best slap in this chor's face was from China which was delivered in a very subtle manner via their press.

.
SS administration will prove to janata of PDF that US does not get to decide Pakistani foreign policy :agree:

.
Didn’t IK conduct a crusade against US foreign policy by meeting with Putin? And now Putin congratulates the so-called US stooge?

Lmao.

Who says that papa USA has approved Showbaz Russian interaction?

Whether you like it or not, PML-N and Bajwa have been tainted for life. The vast majority of Pakistanis will always identify PML-N and Bajwa with papa USA.

Establishment has always had close ties with the US. Has the country been living under a rock since the Ayub era? Btw, let’s see if the current US conspiracy enters our history books.

True and the time has come to correct the course. The US is today involved in regime change operations with the help of the Pakistani army. This is deplorable by any standards. You can have disagreements with any political party, but tolerating external meddling is unacceptable. If the US was involved in the removal of PML-N or PPP, it would be equally deplorable.

Putin congratulated many such new comers in the past 22 years. Many came and go but putin is still there.
IK was unfortunate to not have an army like Russia that is loyal to the motherland. Russia got a good leader and they owned him. That path to progress was never interrupted and see where Russia is today and how much it improved since the fall of soviet union all under the leadership of putin.

No offence. More like one pawn is replaced with another pawn.

Putin is smart who understands that Pakistan establishments is under duress at the face of threatened sanctions.

In reality, Putin and Pakistan will be working soon in WW3 regardless of the differences in politics and economy.

Ironically, main establishments didn’t forbid khan to meet Putin but not during the time when Russia invaded Ukraine. Khan ignored the advises and brought economy sanction on the doorstep. I can understand main establishments panicked so retracted their steps to meet the middle ground.

Waiting for the tension to deteriorate away so Pakistan can get started with Russia on bilateral relationship. What khan did was ill-timed and stupid and brought PMLN on the map once again. 🤦‍♂️

After all, it was same Bajwa that replaced Nawaz Sharif with Khan after General Raheel refused to cooperate to ensure no funny business happen during Nawaz sharif government.

General Raheel was smart man. General bajwa and Imran khan are not smart who reacted immaturely and certainly acted with ego all over the places.
