Prime Minister Imran Khan slammed French President Emmanuel Macron over his anti-Muslim attitude on Sunday, criticising him for hurting the sentiments of millions of Muslims around the world.

The French president is being criticised with protests breaking out in several cities across the world after Macron accused Muslims of separatism and vowed not to give up cartoons depicting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

His comments came in response to the beheading of a teacher, Samuel Paty, a 47-year-old teacher, who was attacked on his way home from the junior high school where he taught in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, 40 kilometres northwest of Paris.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, the prime minister, while presenting examples of the iconic leader Nelson Mandela, said that this is a time when President Macron could have put the healing touch and denied space to extremists rather than "creating further polarisation and marginalisation that inevitably leads to radicalisation".

When Indian Muslims and Hindus had joined hands to pose biggest challenge to British empire in 1857 rebellion. It's Pakistani Punjabi Muslim soldiers who came to rescue of while British colonialist. And ever since then Punjabi Muslims served as largest ethnic segment of British Indian army till they Brits left India. This service also helped in getting support for the creation of Pakistan as Brits thought these loyal Punjabi Muslims would become bulwark in the fight against communist Russians.

I will add over here that European countries like France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and the UK with their colonial past have no right to take a moral higher ground. They are not us who will surrender our country on single phone call.

Only partly true. In addition to Punjabi Muslims, there were also Sikhs and Pashtuns on the side of the British. 1857 reflects the fissure between the Indus Valley Culture versus the Ganges Valley Culture. Earlier British expansionism was supported by Bengal, Madras and Bombay armies with most of the recruits coming from the Eastern Gangetic plains. On the receiving end were Punjabis, Sikhs and Pashtuns so in 1857 the Northerners were just returning the favor to the purbyia soldiers leading the rebellion. You might want to give it a post colonial spin as it was some heroic Muslim Hindu effort but 1857 was a mob reaction with no clear leadership or goals. The leadership was thrusted upon King of the Red Fort but he had no idea what was going on. In fact the roots of the creation of Pakistan was laid in 1857. A very secular explanation.
