Afghans asked to leave Khyber Agency by 19th

KHYBER AGENCY - The security forces and civil administration officials on Wednesday asked the Khyber Agency tribesmen to expel Afghan citizens from their areas as most of them were involved in terror activities to sabotage peace in Pakistan.
This was stated by Swat Scouts Commandant Colonel Naeemullah and assistant political agent of Jamrud Saiful Islam while speaking to a joint Jirga of Shalmani, Mulagori and Kokikhel elders held at Swat Scouts camp in Jamrud Pump House.
Colonel Naeemullah said that the government and the security forces were focusing on two major issues including illegal Afghan settlers and unregistered weapons with the local residents.
He said that carrying unregistered weapons and providing shelter to illegal foreigners were posing threats to Pakistani citizens.
"Most of the terrorists came from Afghanistan and local helpers provided them weapons and shelter in Khyber Agency to lodge attacks in Pakistan", said Col Naeem, adding, that two IEDs blasts were carried out in the last one month in Jamrud tehsil which was being considered as major security threats.
The security forces official said as per intelligence information some of the locals residents were allegedly helping those terrorists launching terrorists attacks from Afghanistan.
"We, Pakistani, provided shelter to the Afghan citizens during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan and now they should go back to their home country as they are not loyal to Pakistan", Col Naeem maintained.
He said 160 small and heavy weapons were recovered during clearance operation from different areas of Jamrud and Mulagori.
He said that on the request of local residents they issued registration permits to 2125 persons for their self protection.
Col Naeem said that May 9, was set the last dead line to get register small weapons and surrender heavy weapons.
He said that upon the expiration of the deadline they would launch raids on homes and other compounds to confiscate illegal weapons.
He warned that if any unregistered weapons were recovered from homes they would arrest the owner and Malik of the tribe.
He said that most of the Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan were found guilty in attacks carried out on the government and civil installations which killed innocent people.
He said that May 19 was the last date set as deadline for Afghan refugees to go back to their country.
He said that any of the Afghan who did not go voluntarily would be expelled by force and homes would be demolished.
However, he said that those Afghan citizens having businesses and other trade in Pakistan would be dealt in the second phase of National Action Plan.
The security forces official said that around 218 houses owned by Afghan citizens were demolished in Torkham border town and inmates were deported to Afghanistan.
He said that a drive would be launched soon to demolish homes of illegal Afghan settlers in the other places in Khyber Agency.
Col Naeem said that they were committed to maintain peace at any cost as for the purpose they lost 111 soldiers of Swat Scouts in war against terrorism so far.
The official urged the tribesmen to help the security forces and point out those making plots against Pakistan.
He said that it was not the lone responsibility of the security forces but Maliks should also play their due role to root out extremism and terrorism from the society.
Assistant political agent of Jamrud Saiful Islam, Malik Faizullah Jan, Malik Ismail Afridi and Haji Manan Mulagori also spoke on the occasion and assured the security forces for their cooperation and coordination to maintain peace in the region.
