The Egyptian deal confirmed a number of 10-12 helicopters from Ukraine.. version MI-24MKV

And...

Shortly afterwards, Russian daily Vedomosti quoted two government sources as saying that contracts had been ‘initialled or signed’ for a variety of hardware, including MiG-29 fighter jets, Mi-35 attack helicopters, small arms and air defence systems.

The Mi-35 (Hind E) is an upgraded export version of the Mi-24V. The Egyptian version of the Mi-24 appears to have been obtained from the Russian army stock or from the former Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact (Ukraine-Belarus-Czech Republic-Bulgaria - Hungary, etc.) after being modified and developed to suit the requirements of the Egyptian Air Force.

There are no details of the deal and the number, but in all estimation there will be no more than 20 or 24 helicopters, in the presence of a major fleet of attack helicopters of American "Apache", Russian "Crocodile Ka-52" and light-armed French reconnaissance helicopter "Gazelle"(Combat / reconnaissance, artillery / naval patrol), the Mi-24V5 transport helicopter, public services and armed support, located in the middle between the two main attack helicopters.

According to the location of the helicopters at Borj El Arab airport, which is not far from the Mohammed Najib military base more than 40 km, and the northern coast of Egypt by more than 13 km, besides fighter aircraft at the airport, these helicopters can carry out air support and protection for ground forces in The base of Mohammed Najib, the patrol and air surveillance of the desert dredge of the delta and the northern Mediterranean coastal region, as well as the implementation of special operations, support operations and close support of infantry and lightning elements and rapid intervention forces, in view of the helicopter's ability to transport and take down eight fighters beside Search and Rescue Combat Search & Rescue CSAR and transport capacity of 2.4 tons of equipment on the external hooks.. And to act as a defensive support Gunship, as it possesses a variety of armament systems of anti-tank guided missiles, multi-purpose rockets and 30 mm and 23 mm guns.

The deal also included the coastal defence system Bastion P/PM or V/VM

Combat Search & Rescue CSAR

Hopefully this will be its only role. Slap a crecent and star emblem on it, create a dedicated SAR corp that is well trained in search, rescue and medivac since that really is all they need. By the time the Ka-52s come and join the Apaches, they'll have almost 100 attack helos and these guys can go around saving those who are wounded or in need of rescue for some reason and the gunship can certainly protect itself, if they equipped them with the same DIRCMs and MAWS they put on the Alligators. Should be all set.

The surprise for me is not the deal itself.....my main surprise is there some secrets in this world and the ability to get this number without any news so you can do the same for some other sophisticated weapons.
Without the satellite picture.. no one would have known if it ever existed in Egypt!

Sir how you were able to confirm the exact type of machine from the given picture?
It is an art or what? I was only able to see the images that there are some helicopters but unable to recognise the type.

If you zoom a few times on the first picture above.. you can see it clearly.. provided you know a bit about Russian combat helicopters and their shapes.. you can also compare it with the other photos provided above..But as far as satellite imagery interpretation & remote sensing is concerned..that is a scientific field in its own right..

It isn't a Mi 35. Nothing rolled of the Mil factory line for Egypt.

You can immediately tell it's not a Mi-35 just by looking at the landing gear. The 35's gear doesn't retract and all preceding helos to the 35 have retracting gears, so it's some type of Mi-24 and if it's the Mi-24V, this should be what it looks like.

By the time they started producing the Mi-35, they added a bunch of stuff where they ran out of room to retract the landing gear and opted to keep it fixed.

This news definitely hit us upside the head lol.

It is possible it will serve the special units and CSAR, because it is capable of combining the tasks of transporting soldiers and carrying the various munitions, and it is possible to provide it with an electronic warfare system such as President S by Russia that operate on its own Mi-24s, and also to avoid the problem of its large size compared to the Apache Mi-28 and Ka-52, which makes it easier to target.

The helmet used, which is the Zh-3YM-1 Schchel-3U system, is a helmet capable of guiding the aircraft gun by the commander's view, which increases the effectiveness of the cannon and gives greater flexibility against the aggressions that require rapid targeting. it is also possible to use the French TopOwl helmet produced by Thales.

The helmet is also equipped with night vision systems, which allow the capacity for low-altitude flight at night or day up to 15 meters, which makes the process of detecting the plane not that easy.. there are also some developments to reduce the thermal footprint of the aircraft in addition to the prevention of dust or sand particles to access the engines.

These developments together make the aircraft ideal for the task of transporting special forces personnel and providing fire support without the need for attack aircraft for protection, stressing that the use of the Mi 24 as an attack aircraft similar to the Apache or Ka-52 or Mi-28 cost the Russians large losses in Afghanistan and pushed them to develop attack helicopters such as M-28 and Ka-52 not equipped to carry individuals..

The aircraft is excellent, practical and cheap compared to its nearest alternatives, the American Black Hawk..

They are Lybians ,transiting by Egypt....refurbished more likely by Ukraine who bought the South African ATE company that modified in the 90’s the Algerian Hind..

New pictures emerged from Lybia showing those helicopters in Libya...Egyptian PDF, went from AWE to DROOLING..
