BD is slowly but surely is emerging as regional power... the strategy of focusing on economy is paying off!

While not exactly the best way to do it(see Rohingya crisis of 2017), BD is keeping defence spending at the same size of economy - roughly 1.5% of GDP when you add in arms imports that are separate to the defence budget.

Fast economic growth is the key to building a large defence budget where good quantities of sophisticated arms can be purchased over time.

. . . .
Although I am happy for the news about the 16MRCA acquisition it's making me anxious day by day. The secrecy and uncertainty regarding the platform chosen is quite frustrating even though I'm sure it would be quite the surprise when finally revealed! But the curiosity is unbearable!
Whatever the case, I really want it to be a western bird!!!

It will be MIG 35 bro... It's Fulcrum on steroids with Optical location system, AESA radars, optimized for ground attacks at the same time being an air superiority jet.... Russsians will certainly optimise it to perform maritime operations too like our MIG 29 K..... In short a mean, lethal, multirole and yet a cost effective fighter jet... Our experience with these jets can add great input in BAF too with this fighter.... In short a win win situation for both of us strategic allies....

No chance of that happening... It will be either Western birds or Chinese ones! Russia completely out of the equation...

Right now I'm sick and tired of your antics on every single thread! But you can imagine whatever you like if that helps you sleep better.....

We dont have money. Maybe after 2030.

BD does have money with a defence budget of 5 billion US dollars(arms imports excluded from official defence budget) and it is just priorities.

5 billion dollar? I thought it was 3.5 billion.

Also SRBM program will cost how much? Or ballistic missiles? I have no idea but i heard it could be billions.

4 billion dollar official defence budget but this only includes defence items that BD produces.
External arms purchases of around 1 billion US dollars a year right now are excluded.

That list that Minister provided would easily come to 5 billion US dollars and would not come out of official defence budget but special government fund.

unless BD starts investing in SRBM , Armed Drones and cruise missles , that wont happen ...

Why do you think BD purchased 18 of the below babies for with 120Km range?:

It is now looking at the 300km range T-300A version.

They will suffice for now while BD builds up it's economy and military budget to buy cruise missiles, SRBMs, armed drones etc. Remember military modernisation is not due to be complete till 2030.
