About New Provinces

Do you think it is good for Pakistan to create new Provinces on ethnic base ?

I am not in favour of establishing new provinces because in my view, that will enlarge differences between different groups of Pakistan.

It will only start a never ending process of breaking the states more and more and in the end breaking the country apart.

Today new states will be asked for. Tomorrow there will be demand to change the republic to a federation. After that there will be demand to change the federation to a confederation and after that .......

No not on ethnic base, but it should be made sure that rights of people belonging a specific ethnicity should not be deprived. I mean we should not give reasons to anyone asking for a new province.

However, if division is to facilitate the administration, there is no harm.

I think there is no need to divide sindh into further provinces, but Punjab must be split by creating new provinces.

SS, what do you think about ethnic spillover from those ethnic provinces? What about mixed ethnicities? What about very minutely represented ethnicities?

No way.

That will divide the people further, and hence internal problems in Pakistan will be much worse.

desolve all the provinces and give all the powers to elected district councils. a directly elected district head should be there answerable to the elected council. give them all the resources and revenue share of their District. Education, health and all the other minor things should be district council's and its head's responsibility. federal gov should only have major 7 to 8 department like railways and highways, ports, defence, foriegn affairs, interior, finance, higher education, water and power, petroleum etc. if you want people to be satisfied, if you want people's wellbeing at their door steps, if you want people to have access to their government and administration, then this is the best solution. it will also negate the ethnic and linguistic divide because districts are not created on any ethnic lines.
A person's problem should be solved at district headquater and not at provincial capital hundrands of miles away from his home.

Yes, to delegate authority is surely going to happen, lets do it ourselves, moreover, change the term province to State, and make like 15 states, divide administratively so that conflict may remain on boundaries, and no area feels compete within itself, centre should only take care of matters like defence, police, foreign affairs, communication, education, every state contributing to according to its own capacity... performance based returns.

and two party system, no regional or ethnic politics... and institutionalize politics into a profession.

i dont think so, infact as one poster pointed out, it will create division beteewn people

we should concentrate more on economy then we can talk abt new province when we have good govt with strong centre
