Japan is not decided to be partner or competitor of China..
In economy side I think Japan want to be partner.
Yet on politics and military side, more like to be competitor..

Contrary to what you said Mike, as we speak, the ADB is already starting its cooperative agenda with the AIIB.

Economically, Japan and China are already partners; our trade volume is nearing half a trillion. And this volume increases year after year. Politically, both Japan and China are cooperating in nuclear energy, nuclear physics, environmental policy, environmental protection, water conservation, anti-pollution, maritime and air defense mechanisms, and the breadth of cooperation has grown unbelievably , even despite "differences" regarding the Senkaku-shotto / Diaoyu-tai.

Japan is fast becoming irrelevant in Asia. It's acting like a rogue state because it has realised China has surpassed it in power and by only going rogue will Japan be relevant.

Why would the Asian Development Bank be threatened ? Japan is not threatened or affected by competitor banks such as the World Bank or the IMF. Seriously, there is no shortage of loan applications, lol. Again, the ADB's capacity is over $250 Billion. The AIIB's is $50 Billion. Even if say the AIIB grows in parity with the ADB, what that means is that there will be more options for developing nations for infrastructure and aggregate loans. Its a win win situation for everyone; the ADB, the AIIB, and the developing world.

Well seems you dont really get what i mean bro. I agree with what you just said. Of course Asia's infrastructural needs are huge, no single country or institution can even meet half of it. But that doesn't means Japan and the U.S will agree to just seat still and watch China expand its influence with its own financial institutions. Doesnt matter if other Asian countries are in dire need of infrastructure. Since when do countries/powers care about the well being of others? What matters is their own interests and if that means depriving others, then so be it. That's how geo politics works, we might not like it but that's how it is. Don't blame the player blame the game.

So what you said is correct Asia indeed has a massive need of investment in infrastructure, everybody knows that. But that doesn't change anything I said earlier. Just because they need infrastructure doesn't means Japan and the U..S will welcome with open arms an organisation they think poses a threat to their interests/dominance. The U.S might as well tell/welcome China to create a new world bank/IMF, since the current one aren't very representative and may countries will benefit from it.

Nope its not a rogue state, its still the most advanced/developed country in Asia.its simply trying to protect its position in Asia as the leading Asian power.. its the only Asian country who can really challenge challenge china in asia. India is too far behind for now.

Irrespective of opinions, Mike, China's presence and influence in the region and beyond cannot be ignored. And as for the AIIB, it already exists, and thus established international monetary lending institutions such as the ADB, IMF, WB will have to get used to working with and cooperating with AIIB.

Japan has an advanced economy but doesn't have size. It's only advantage is technological. Even in technology, Japan has only a small lead over China in critical technologies.

China has a bigger economy, bigger consumer market, bigger manufacturer, bigger exporter, bigger importer, bigger investor, bigger lender, bigger foreign exchange reserves, bigger weapons exporter, bigger military budget, most powerful nuclear arsenal in Asia, more global brands in top 100 lists, more supercomputers in Top500 list (including current fastest), bigger stock market, bigger labour force, UNSC veto power, more Olympic gold medals, far more energy resources, far more raw material resources, more graduates of engineers and scientists, etc.

I'll give you that Japan do have a bit of lead in certain areas like semiconductor, machinery & equipment, transportation, internet speed, and a few technological leads over China but that won't last long. Japan has a bigger government bond market than China too. Yen has a bigger share in global payments (SWIFT) and foreign exchange market (BIS) than Renminbi but that's temporary. So yes, Japan does have some achievements left it can boast about but those leads too will disappear as the Chinese juggernaut stomps a mud hole in Japan and walk it dry.

Japan doesn't have the most important thing.....an independent foreign policy. No point becoming a sovereign country when your foreign policy decisions are decided in Washington DC.

China practically owns Japan in pretty much all areas except a couple of areas.

This is why Japan elected a fascist (Abe) as its ultra nationalistic population sees its getting surpassed by China and wants something done about it. Japan sees China surpassing them and want to irritate China with prostituting itself more to the U.S, getting into bed with a weakling like India, visiting the Yasukuni shrine, laughing at the Nanjing massacre, etc.

That's the behaviour of a country that is utterly powerless while its neighbour is rapidly overtaking it.

China vs Japan is not even a contest or comparison anymore. They are not even worthy of being a challenge to China. China only cares about Japan due to WW2 invasion, otherwise China would be ignoring Japan just like how China ignores India.

China's only true challenge in the world is the United States of America. China knows it, Japan knows it, USA knows it, I know it and even a clown like you knows it too.
