What's new

A visit to Pasban Shooting Range - Rawalpindi

Showing affiliation with PA is not an issues as i was there in August with friends....problem is showing the affiliation every time i need to use the range as I personally feel a bit odd that I have to request friends again and again every 1-2 month......if they have started some new process of membership then that is a good step because i will be able to get it done without an issue .....
Best bet is approach APSAA and see if they can let you use their range in Islamabad

Nice thread. All I ever shot was my uncle's soviet era kalishnikov on my land on water pots(pani de karray) with iron sights. With addition to some hand guns. LoL
Next time you come to Pindi message me, happy to give you a go on some of the kit we have here!

. .
or I approach Zaid Hamid ....he has found some good space out of the city, he has been sharing pictures and videos of shooting at Range on his Facebook page :D
LOL, I love ZZH but he is charging a lot for a 25m range.

It was something fun I tried when I was younger. I'm not into guns as much as I was into my marksmanship. I've had some bad experiences before though. One time I blew the barrel of a valayti revolver because I was a dumb *** and decided to be cheap by buying desi golis. I was more scared of having to replace it for my friend than having it blow up in my face.

It's not the bullet that causes that to happen its the grain size and metallurgy of the actual cartridge that causes the explosion :D. A Spanish company used to export revolvers to Pakistan that offered the .32 Magnum cartridge, boy was that a beast to shoot. Good ammo, gun grease and cleaning is the key to keeping a happy weapon.

Actually it is Acog 4x, used by US forces, brand name was Trijicon, yes the position is interesting, helps to get target in sight very quickly

Nothing too secretive, It was just the normal gear you see QRF people carrying, If you live in a proper cantt area then you know what i mean.
No the sight is not chineese it was american made 4x acog by trigicon. The Range is called "Pasban Range" comes under 111 brigade, it is next to dog center in westridge.

I will try to take some interesting pictures when I visit next week. they had G-3 with scope and bipod too.
I asked them if these were being modified by P.O.F, but the answer was no, it is upto the Unit if they want these upgrades and these are bought by collecting funds from the solider
EO tech or MEU or Lucopold 4x are latest scope one should be used in it and position is not intresting but somewhat difficult to aim.....

I have always thought the scope position was not correct but pak army uses it so who am i
Yes it is not right even trijicon company is somewhat a low standard company as respect to EO TECH or Meu and Lecupold...

really!!! after a full page of detailed input from @RescueRanger and myself you guys are still questioning the position of the scope?
with all due respect and for the sake of argument may i know your experience with the AK platform or how much research have you guys done on this?

He scope is attached to wrong place. Every time you will use gun the scope will be required to be zero in. All Ak mechanism guns have this problem due to most moving parts being on the top. Best solution is to fit the scope on the stock aiming sight than on the cylinder chamber.
it retains zero with the Gas Tube block mounted AK as long as you don't remove the gas tube, which you don't have to very oftem

Oh dear....look who is on his shetland pony.
Instead of asking why....you decided to go on a rant.
The readon people question is normally scope are close to the eye so extra light wont cause a problem...but hey i am not going to dance about it. I will let you carry on. Enjoy

it had to be a rant because you guys just came in with the same one liner that had already been answered in detail, if you wanted to be part of discussion or wanted to be part of discussion you should have given your justification with the comment instead of one liner and then wait for people to ask question......
now in response to your reason, there are always pros and cons with where you mount your scope and personal preference, it also depends on the type of optic you use ...... as i said in my previous post, having front mounted optic has advantage of retaining zero and faster target acquisition

I will said only in thing ...
If this position of scope in AK-47 is right than Why its tailor manufacturer kalashnikov is not positioned it in this location in its new variants Ak-12 and Ak-15
????
there is nothing wrong in having a wrong mounted optic nor dust cover / dog tail mounted rail, it is personal preference and how the rifle is to be used.....saying that right way to mount an optic is only on the rear is a far fetch idea ...... in recent designs there were able to make the rail part of the receiver hence it is part of the gun, compare this to the traditional design where AK 47 wasn't design to mount an optic your options for mounting an optic on the rear are very limited hence we play with where we want to mount our sign ..... read my post on Page -2 ......
