A vertical climb to glory: Tejas enthralls at Air Force Day

How many fighters in present day not flying with fully functional digital FBW unlike 1 with only Pitch axis.
How many present day fighter flying without HMDS ? Again Unlike 1 . I heard even T50 LIFT got 1.
Apples and Oranges, there maybe not many aircraft flying without the FBW or other gadgets but then there are many which after some 30 years would be nearing the end of their service life rather than just getting operational....and if the late Squadron Leader Baldev Singh was alive, he would tell you a thing or two about manual and automatic canopy locking systems..... involving this type of aircraft.

like i said a million times before, tejas is rubbish, an overpriced product of corruption to make the leaders rich.

no person with a decent half a brain would create an exact replica of the mirage 3 (1956) and call it a next generation fighter single engine aircraft.

at least the JF-17 is an improved F-16/F5...

im quite bemused the indian population actually accept this rubbish of an aircraft, found foreign suppliers, commission and became proud of it.

Its being proud of a rubbish bin that was made with $500 usd.

til now i can NEVER understand indian logic. damn illogical.

the amount of india people left in this forum is dwindling because i guess they r ashamed of their nation

An ace pilot. H9w many kills do you have to have in air to air combat to be an ace? Or is this the Indian version of ace?

I think you can make out from the context that this was a figure of speech. You might like to bring out your expert knowledge of aviation parlance on a more appropriate occasion, other than nit-picking some journalists' copy. Unless, of course, you are a professional sub-editor.

Your seeking a foreign single engine fighter because the Tejas is crap, the fact you are even buying 120 is because the goverment is craming it down your throat and unlike the Navy which outright refused the airforce cant after you wasted so much money on it

The whole point of Tejas was to fulfill the single engine fighter role "indigenously" the reality where you have to search the world for an alternative shows what a turd the Tejas really is

Please save us from your highly secret connections and information on Jf17s we are busy inducting the 100th fighter and gearing up to export it to numerous countries

Don't be childish. Do the numbers; we can't afford to allow the gap to continue while we wait for industrial production to speed up. These are not scooters or motor-cycles.

That is just part of the failure of Tejas and the programme

The whole point of the Tejas was to take up the slack of the single engine fighter role, but it was so screwed up as a programme with so many delays and short fall's that it forced the indian military to find an alternative and this is the ultimate and final condemnation of the tejas programme

Hardly. They are looking for a stop-gap? not a replacement for all time to come. And they are asking for a continued effort to meet future needs well before the future.

Wonder how many present day fighter jets have their canopy closed manually like the Tejas, even the K-8 trainer has an automatic system in place.
Even some fighters like su34 doesn't even have opening type canopy, still its flying and nobody cares.

your ugly and made in china junk fighter 17, LCA is far far superior than this junk, IAF will prefer mig 21s over the china maal any day:D

Why don't you first boycott the $70 billion India-China trade, maybe then you can beat your chest like a monkey.

India needs a plane that will Inspire its people. Which is Tejas

India also need a single engine fighter to replace the flying coffin, which could be f-16 or Gripen.

So Tejas is a parade plane. While India buscombat planes from else where. Both type of planes fill their roles.
