I think the hate and mistrust towards China from the West and Japan is because they know how powerful can become and what many of these nations have done to China in the past. They fear reprisal and vengeance from a rejuvenated and all-powerful China, hence the deep-rooted angst and trepidation towards China's rise. The day all these former sinner nations have been fearing is fast approaching. Fear and hatred is a natural and predictable reaction but it need not be. How these nations treat China today will dictate their future relations with China. China is a mature and pragmatic civilisation and primarily care about the prosperity and economic strength of China. Everything else, like politics and military, are all just a means to an end, to achieve and maintain their primary goal. However, if the West and Japan continue to treat China like the enemy, then they give all the hawks and nationalists in China the excuse they need to drag up the past and perpetuate mutual mistrust and hatred from the Chinese public.

Make no mistake, when China has fully risen, it will be more powerful than any other nation, in the history of the World. How large and small nations treat China today will be keenly remembered by all Chinese. China don't need other nations to kowtow and kneel at China's feet. They just need these nations to not try to undermine China's sovereignty and national interests, and slur China's reputation at every opportunity.

Japan struggles to fight against Chinese dominance in East Asia. They succeeded in 1895. However in just 100 years, China recovered the dominance. 胡虏无百年之运。 Foreigners will never have the luck beyond 100 years. China had this kind of confidence as early as Sui Dynasty. Whether British, Japan, United States, China has the confidence to win over them. It may take 100 years, but Chinese civilization can last forever.

Japan should clearly see its fate from Huns, Turks, Qidan, Mongolian,Manchu. Either be part of China or accept the doomed fate.

Manchu knew this well. To be part of China, they even sacrificed their languages.

If United States continues to behave like the current way to pursue hegemony at any cost, China, the middle Empire will have a chance to become the center of this planet. With US help, Chinese relations with EuroAsia continental major powers are at its best in history. Almost all the alliance to contain China is from the edge of EuroAsia continental such as Japan, Australia, Philippines and Vietnam. If China can take the chance to connect the EuroAsia continental constructively through one belt one road program, then next step China can connect pacific countries constructively, then China will be the center of this planet.

lol but seriously through out Chinese history, how many nations has been absorbed to make today China, I don't even have clue of my original ancestor...just know that I'm Chinese but I'm glad to be part of the collective "Borg", I might have 1/2 Han blood, 1/5 Manchu blood, 2/5 of Turkish blood and 2/5 of the rest of our 56 minority blood.

Back to the thread, through out Chinese history, there was always a hate/love amount these nations with curse and hate slogan before the united China such as

Chinese history is in meseum, it's real and can be viewed, touched, felt. The abundant collections speak silently everything for our history, whatever propaganda or sth, ancient articles can't lie.

I know the SCS islands map. It's very mess, if all based on facts, I can't understand why Phillipines and Vietnam can cooperate, such as play football on islands when Vietnam is in fact occuping most islands, including nearby Phillipines.

CCP did destroy lots of ancient objects during cultural revolution, but more and more ancient objects still are found after culture revolution, even two months ago, we found and expored a huge Han dyansty prince's tomb, full of ancent articles 2000 years old. post a part of photos here.
