A Night of Defiance: Turkey marks third anniversary of failed coup

Not targetting you bro, but every single person here who still celebrates this event. This was the darkest day in our history and yet people are making it seem like it was something to be proud about. Lets just be happy that it didn't spark a civil war.

I'm not going to address the fact that Tayyip knew about it and how he was allied with Gulen, etc. We all know that. But I'm going to say it is an insult to talk about how unarmed 'civilians' rejected military rule. You're talking about a few hundred conscripts that were sent out into the streets that had no idea what they were doing and then lynched by thousands of people and you're still calling this a freaking coup. Stop trashing on our military's reputation and prestige. Let's leave this event in the past.

The real heros on July the 15th were those military and police personnel who understood what was happening and calmed the situation in order to prevent a civil war.

Greeks, Armenians and all other Turk haters love to spread pictures of bloodied up Turkish soldiers. They never had the opportunity to defeat us at war so to them videos and images from July 15th were a joyful sight.

So to all my brothers on this forum please wake up and stop celebrating this sh!t. It is not respectful to TSK or any of the innocent people who died on that day including clueless conscripts who are now remembered as traitors. By all means mourn on this day. However don't call it a victory unless you're an enemy of our Army. Never forget the "15 Temmuz Destanı" posters that were everywhere, showing our soldiers crying. What embarrassing and disgusting times for the image of our army. All thanks to AKP's prior frendship with FETO.

Yuck.

F*ck FETO, AKP and KCK. I hope all three get destroyed.

Let the kurd, greek and armenian monkeys laugh we all know in a real war they would get oblierated by the Turks.

Dont waste your time with these former slaves. Greeks and armenians are cheering thats only thing they do because in a real war they will be oblierated.

We had to give Azebaijan 100% support in the Karabag war. Turkey had the chance to obliterate Armenia but instead they just sent token support like arms and officers to train Azerbaijani troops.

Not really enough all thanks to Ozal and Demirel for that fck up.

Be proud of your military from its history to today.

This coup was nothing more than a setback. We had many setbacks in the past.

Turks just keep soldiering on we are not like armenians, greeks or kurds who constantly bitch and cry.

2 things I'm going to say.

1) Anyone who celebrates celebrates July 15th is not only a fool but also an enemy of the Turkish nation. This is meant to be a day of mourning. Like any major terrorist attack it should not be celebrated. But our president and many of his followers see it as a 'victory' and even compare it to Gallipoli and the War of Independence. What an absolute joke. Dozens of newly recruited CONSCRIPTS were brutally killed by so called civilians. It was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. It only happened a few days after I joined this website and for months after I was in shock. This isn't a victory day. It was an absolutely tragic mess that should never be repeated.

2) AKP was fully responsible for it. They were the ones who allowed feto to enter TSK. Erdogan himself said that he was a supporter of the Ergenekon trials. It is absolutely hypocritical for any AKP fan to say that they are against FETO when their own leader was Gulen's biggest supporter.

1) Hmmm isnt that why he is called traitor who committed treason and betrayal

Like seriously you don't get betrayed by strangers you dont talk to but by friends and allies who are used to be close to you that is what betrayal and treason is

It would be a humiliation if TSK was infiltrated by a strange entity that wasn't close to the state wouldn't it

No one denies the alliance feto and akp had in the past that is why the feto treason was so damaging and bad that is why they managed to infiltrate and now for their actions are now a designated terrorist organization being fought against may I say more effectively than the fight against pkk

Is it akp fault when a friend would show his true color and stab it in the back ??,, yet look for three years now akp was nothing but a hunting hounds

Hundreds of schools in Africa and the world were seized ,, major blow to feto finance network and well no one can deny the arrests right ??

2) And your idea of not celebrating it is false yes many died and should be mourned

But those who died have saved a nation , have secured a future for the republic their heroism and sacrifice their victory is being celebrated how is that wrong ???

You know I also find it retarded to compare july 15 to 1453, turkish independance war or gallipoli, kut or baku.

Coups or whatever it is never been celebrated. We should treat july 15 more like a internal tragedy thing rather than a celebration or a victory.

Soldiers deaths or getting treated like crap is also bad you gotta remember its a life or death situation between soldiers and civilians. Either way both would have killed each other.

Most soldiers easily surrendered without firing a shot which means civilians themselves violated a rule by killing soldiers. Turkish soldiers barely harm their own people they did not deserves but the higher ups it is a different story.

Once they surrendered they should have been treated properly but its civilians what you expect to see common sense with them in a life and death situation.
Again I would disagree

On july 15 people gave their lives to save their nation and secure a future for generations to come

Yes mourn their death but celebrate their accomplishment

Celebrate their heroism and sacrifice their victory saving democracy and standing up for what is right

How come is that wrong july 15 is a day of pride for turkey not a day of tragedy it is a day in which the whole world knew what Turks are made of and are capable off

It is the day Turks earned respect so no you should celebrate it

Besides just to disapprove your logic in world war 2 weren't the allies celebrating their victory even tho millions died

Dont they up to this day still commemorate their fallen and celebrate their victory and are proud of it

So how come ?? July 15 is a day of pride and honour it is only a day of tragedy to those who financed, supported and backed the coup

A tragedy for the enemies of Turkey

I watched the even through CNN and I am glad that Turkey can still protect its democracy.

A tragedy for the enemies of Turkey

That was a war very different compared to july 15.

We also lost a lot of men and civilians in past wars especially in Turkey.

Not to discount anything from July 15. But its insulting to compare it to Canakkale and Sarikarmish.

It was a tragedy for all the AKP voters who had no link to FETO yet had their sons throats slit by crazed Islamists.

You do realise that most of the soldiers who were on the streets were newly recruited and had been told that there was a terrrorist attack that they had to respond to? They weren't even told that they were participating in a coup.

How about you stop following A Haber for once and look at the truth of what happened. I don't know if this was a western backed plan to start a civil war or a trick by Erdogan in order to consolidate his power. But it definitely was not a coup. If it was a real coup civilians wouldn't stand a chance.

To be honest the country did not collapse thank God for that.

So many countries had military coups that ended up in civil wars. Many examples in Africa, Asia and South America.

Turkey is not a African or a South American country. Man every time a coup happens we should be thankful it did not descend into anarchy and a collapse. Regardless of peoples political views in Turkey I think everybody knows that the collapse of a country or a civil war should be avoided at all costs.

So many countries have collapsed due to this. At least Turkey has a sense of identity and unity you dont get that with a lot of countries. Look at many African countries people are so divided by race, ethnic groups, ideologies, religion, tribes and languages that the country easily descends into a civil war due to numerous generals or officers doing a coup against each other which leads to a full blown civil war mainly a tribal war morphed into a civil war. Its crazy to be honest.

I think a lot of the times the worst has been avoided.

there is no democracy in turkey sir, when you open your mouth you would go to prison asap. so AKP coup is succesfull actually.

At lease you still have fair election there and the government is still under civilian control. It is indeed a set back from period before the failed coup (less freedom) but I believe condition will be improving in the future and the worst scenario has been avoided just like what @Nein had mentioned.

Unfortunately there is no democracy and human rights there in Turkey any more. And I am a victim of it.
My own country had set a trap for me and let me suffer for a year till they found that they are wrong and mistaken but the damages are given already. Now there is no court or judge to ask for my rights.
I am not the only one but one of hundred thousands. And justice system doesn't work for us.
