New details of the Ministry of Defense development document approved by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, were published yesterday, which include the vision and strategy of the Ministry's development program, the operational model for development, organizational structure, governance and human resources requirements. Which was prepared in the light of the National Defense Strategy.

The document includes initiatives, including the launch of a new national defense strategy that promotes joint action and response to changing and accelerating threats to safeguard the interests and security of Saudi Arabia, as well as the restructuring of the Ministry of Defense with a new operational model, to determine its roles to ensure the protection of national interests, and the achievement of the strategic objectives of the ministry.

The military will modernize its military capabilities with qualitative, high-tech weapon systems.

The new operational model of the Ministry of Defense aims at increasing transparency, by separating authorities and responsibilities, and by implementing clear controls. The Ministry of Defense's development program, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Medical Services of the Armed Forces, seeks to improve the medical care of Ministry of Defense personnel and their families.

The Ministry of Defense's development program aims at raising the efficiency of spending by localising the military industry, creating jobs and encouraging defense studies and research.

Work is under way to establish a joint permanent force command to promote joint action of the armed forces and to support partnership with allies and friends. The Ministry of Defense also promotes strategic air transport capabilities and logistics to enable it to increase responsiveness and flexibility.
