What's new

A new stealth corvette from France

This ship is perfect for swarming naval maneuvers, but they are, as what you have said, susceptible to air threats. Thus, they can only be deployed for territorial defense. I do ponder on how a flotilla of these would fare against say a squadron of the PLAN's Type 052Ds. ;)

A bit like this I afraid;

or like this

Swarm attacks without air, sea and electronic cover are still just as doomed as ever. Tactics are being developed, weapons and sensor too, to defeat the concept of swarm boats. What is the more dangerous part would be the large volume of anti-ship missiles fired from a collection of these boats towards an enemy flotilla. Some would be defeated, but many would still get through and defeat their targets.

.
My assumption is that these would be deployed around the overseas French departments, especially in say Polynesia, the IOR, and in the South American coastal waters. This should be an attractive vessel for the navies of developing navies as well. Do you happen to know the cost of this ship, Sir? Advanced Thanks.
There's no price quote yet. I don't think it is for the French navy, rather for export (Gulf).

.
can anyone tell me why can't attack surface-ships be removed from usage totally and be replaced with general purpose submarines... including for commando operations and as carriers for limited number ( maybe four ) of tilt-rotor aircraft??

the upper part of such a submarine can be made stealth...

Not really, it is too large

Typical Mission Systems
> One CMS with Tactical Data Link
> One new generation Naval Radar (4 fixed array panels)
> One SSM System (8 missiles)
> One SAM System (16 vertical launch missiles)
> Two Short Range Air Defence Missile Systems

> One Fire Control Radar
> One Electro-optical and fire control System
> One R-ESM System and one C-ESM System
> One Primary Gun: 76mm or 57 mm
> Two Secondary 20mm Guns (30 mm as option)
> One Decoy Launching System

> One Integrated Naval Communication System
> One Integrated Bridge Control System (IBCS)
> One towed sonar module
> One hull mounted sonar
> Two triple-tube torpedo launchers
> Two 11m high speed RHIB with dedicated davits
> 10 t class helicopter platform
Makes for a decent self defence suite.

@Mike_Brando I guess Kamorta class will also use antisubmarine version of Klub cruise missiles( 50 km range) through torpedo tubes( 2*3).

That i know buddy but we should have installed the AShM capability onboard the Kamorta class.Without those AShMs Kamorta lacks the fire power needed to operate solo in international water.Plus it would have increased the offensive capabilities of the I.N. to some extent:(

Well I was wondering if they can use other versions of klub missiles through tarpedo tubes? I don't see why they can't.

Why even bother with ships just build subs
So, uhm, how are you going to control your waters without ship? Let the sub surface and launch a boarding party?
I.e. that's one dimensional thinking.

It could, but it is all speculation at this point. So, let's not pretend it does untill there is positive confirmation from several sources, preferablyh official ones.

You would have to have enough magazine space and underdeck handling capabilities. These pups weigh 2 tons and are over 7m long. As compared to 4-5m and less than 1 ton for an AShM like Uran or 3m and 250kg for lightweigh ASW torps.
